2016 Prospect Watch MiLB thread.

Post#1 » by wichmae » Tue Mar 1, 2016 9:50 pm

Brewers came in at #9 over all in pipeline's pre season rankings. Cody Ponce with the massive jump from #30 end of season to organizational #8. Taylor fell quite a bit.
http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2016?list=mil

1. Orlando Arcia SS, Starts AAA may make big leagues this season
2. Brett Phillips CF, Starts AAA may make bigs in '16
3. Jorge Lopez SP, Starts AAA and same as above.
4. Josh Hader SP, Im guessing he starts in AAA this year and may be a September call up guy in the mold Lopez did it last season
5. Trent Clark CF, Should start in A and be the center attraction in Appleton
6. Gilbert Lara SS/3B, Im guessing he'll go to Appleton too. Though an extended spring and rookie ball isnt out of the realm as well.
7. Kodi Medieros SP, Should probably start in high A though he may end up in Biloxi by years end.
8. Cody Ponce SP, Same as Medieros. Probably High A
9. Devin WIlliams SP, Tough one to guess but maybe high A or a start in Appleton with the bump to BC.
10. Jacob Nottingham C/1B, Im going to guess AA start with a possible AAA end.
11. Isan Diaz 2B/SS/3B, Im still shocked we got him for Segura. Should rake in Appleton in front of Clark.
12. Tyrone Taylor OF, Will play every day in Colorado Springs. Think of how far this system has come in two years
13. Clint Coulter OF, Same as Taylor
14. Demi Orimoloye OF, Another massive prospect who will be a strong attraction to that Appleton squad
15. Monte Harrison OF, Rehabbing still though he should be back soon. He is in Maryvale working out.
16. Nathan Kirby SP, Probably the best kept secret in the system. Has #2/3 upside. Still rehabbing his TJ.
17. Adrian Houser SP, WIll be a starter in AAA. Would not be shocked to see in rotation by end of year.
18. Michael Reed OF, Because of his option availability Im guessing he starts in AAA. Will be up at some point this year.
19. Zach Davies SP, AAA starter was #5 guy before acquiring Chase Anderson.
20. Marcos Diplan SP, Another T'Rats guy.
21. Bubba Derby SP, I assume he'll be a starter in Biloxi. Though BC is a possibility too.
22. Taylor Williams SP, Lost season to TJ. SHould be back after 2016
23. Yadiel Rivera SS/UTIL, I think he makes the big club out of Spring and is the first off the top 30 list for graduation
24. Jake Gatewood SS/3B He'll be in Appleton in that stacked T'Rats team.
25. Rymer Liriano OF, Will maje Crew out of spring and graduate off list
26. Victor Roache OF, Will play every day in AAA. Make or break year for him after being passed over in rule 5.
27. Freddy Peralta SP, Probably Appleton or extended spring and rookie ball. Depends on how much innings they want him to throw/
28. Miguel Diaz SP, Should be a starter in Biloxi
29. Damien Magnifico, CP Im guessing he'll close in Colorado Springs
30. Jacob Barnes SP/RP he'll be in Colorado Springs until they trade away from the pen

Guys not listed who I think will probably make top 30 with graduations. Trey Supak, Wei Chung Wang, David Denson, Tyrone Perry, Malik Collymore, Troy Stokes, Javier Betancourt, and probably Barrios (though he may have graduated)

Kirby is supposedly out for 2016 too, according to Haudricourt

Kirby and Williams had TJ within a month of each other. Both are out 2016.

Hader Im guessing pitches every day in AAA. Im sure they dont want to start Arby clock so a September guy makes the most sense. I would assume Davies and Lopez are the first guys up in injury/trade scenarios. Houser probably as well along with Pena if he doesnt make opening roster.

I believe that Pena is out of options, so if he doesn't make the team there's obviously a chance he could be gone.

WIsh there was an easy way to look this all up. I hate having to go back and count through seasons.

Did some quick digging, found a tweet from Haudricourt who I assume would be reliable for this sort of thing.

I wonder how often they update that, because they basically haven't updated most of the site in about five years.

All you have to do is look at the roster. It's accurate, because the roster is accurate.

I'm not questioning whether its accurate right now, I'm just questioning whether it will be reliable going forward.

I don't see why it wouldn't be. You said yourself that the site hasn't been updated for 5 years, yet the roster with player options I linked to is current. I don't see why that would change.

Most seasons open April 7th. Excited to see that MiLB first pitch.
