Brewer Game Thread: July 2016

Post#1 » by DH34Phan » Sun Jul 3, 2016 3:08 am

So far we are 0-2 in the month of July.

The rest of the month looks pretty tough. At Washington for 3, home vs. STL for 3 then the All Star break. Realistically we could be 1-8 or so in July heading into the AS break.

After the AS break we have our best chance at winning a series @ Cincy for 3 but we'll probably lose 2 or even get swept. Then onto Pitt for 3 games where we've struggled for a while now. 10 game homestand ends the month. 3 vs. Chicago Cubs, 4 vs. AZ DBacks, and 3 vs. Pittsburgh.

Don't want to sound too much of pessimist but I really wouldn't be surprised if we went 5-20 in July.

SELL SELL SELL at the trading deadline!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We're not losing 2 out of 3 to Cincy. Even if we traded Braun, Lucroy and Jeffress we probably wouldn't. Cincy is horrible. Arizona sucks too and Pittsburgh isn't very good right now either. I'd love to have a 5-20 month but this wouldn't be the month it would happen.

One would have to imagine Arizona and Pittsburgh start improving though. Either through trades or just players moving closer to their norms. Miller has been awful and he eventually will improve. Pittsburgh has been really touch and go. Cutch has had a bad year but as of lat e has gotten hotter. As long as we keep losing thats all that matters.

We're in a great spot. For all the angst about wins, if you had told me in April that Braun and Luc could return to no-brainer all-star form and we'd still have the 8th-worst record in baseball, all while having other potential trade assets like Carter, Hill, and Villar play quite a bit better than expected and having multiple trade chips in the bullpen as well, I would have been thrilled.

I don't see Villar being shopped.

If you can get a haul for him I can see any player traded.

So I got an alert when I woke up about Braun hitting 3rd but was put 4th on the batting order so a hit got taken away. How does that happen?

Good for him

I really like stories like him who just kept hoping their dream of the majors would some day come true. He's not only made the majors, he's excelling big time. It will be interesting to see if he can keep pitching well over the rest of the season.

Looks like Herb Kohl picked the NL all-star outfielders. "Don't give me all this newfangled analytics crap! Who's got the most dingers?"
