2016 Trade Deadline Thread

Making a dedicated thread to this. After the ASB, we'll have ~2 weeks until the big day.

Hoping Lucroy, Hill, Braun, Boyer, Torres and either Smith or Jeffress are gone. The longer we wait, the less likely we are to make a bunch of moves.

Stearns isn't going to be able to trade that many guys. I question in the history of baseball if any team traded that many players.

I'll be happy if simply Lucroy, Hill, and a reliever ends up traded.

Sounds like they got a #5 starter with six years of team control and an offensively toolsy but young 2nd baseman.

Looks like a whole lot of nothing in return to me.

Yea, I expected more. Wilkerson's numbers are eye-popping, though. Give him that.

He's 27 and sits 88-90 with his fastball. Spent 2 years in independent ball because no team thought he was worthy of using a draft pick on him.

Although I'm going to get a huge laugh when people on bf.net who thought Hill had the value of Parra last year get wind of this trade.

Can't be too disappointed with this return since Hill is already 34 and was essentially a paid throw-in in the Segura deal.

Rijo is only 20 - might only be a utility/speed guy if he ever makes it but there's something to work with.

What the hell were you expecting, though?

Rijo is a damn good get for Hill. Were talking about Aaron Hill here. A guy we were best case scenario flipping. Rijo was top 20 in a very deep Boston system.

But honestly, this is solid. 20 year old with solid bench player upside at least. Wilkerson could take Garzas spot tomorrow for all I care, see what you got, he's not going to figure much else out at 27. At worst you're improving your slot bonus ;)

I'd have been happy to just dump Hill for almost nothing if Counsell would then play Perez everyday at 3rd to see what he can do with regular playing time.

Yeah reading more into this its a really good trade. According to Gammons a ton of teams were in on Wilkerson. Very intriguing deal.

Ironically with your quote on Parra above, how fast do you think Davies throws?

And it begins. We are accumulating quite a lot of middle infield and CF depth in the system. I would like to see more 3B/1B/SP options. Regardless, considering what I thought of Hill in the first month of the season I am content with this haul. Rijo is an interesting prospect and with his current offensive struggles he'll fit in nicely at Brevard Cty. And, we get to send Wilkerson off to a place where pitchers die. I'm sure his career 2.40 minor league ERA will ascend rather quickly.

Meh seems like a good deal for a guy the dbacks paid to get rid of.
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.
