He literally made his MLB debut like three weeks ago. Should be an effective LOOGY in the short term. Hopefully we didn't give up much.

Cooper is a Lyle Overbay type player who has crushed AAA. He's 26 and a first base only guy.

LOL Yankees twitter. Now all of a sudden Cooper is an All Star find.

I really hope we are careful not to mess up out farm system. I still don't think we are ready.

This is a trade of one team's surplus to fill another team's weakness of equal role players that are dominating AAA.
Both guys are probably just role players/depth in the MLB but there's always the chance it's the Broxton for Rogers trade where one guy clearly thrives.

That was an amazing trade. Dont forget we got Supak too.

As I just posted in the trade thread. Seems like a reasonable deal for both sides.

I don't really know much about Cooper as a prospect and how much of this is a Colorado Springs aided fluke. Those are some sick AAA numbers no matter what though.

Swaping 26 year old AAA guys isn't really doing anything to the farm system.

27 total HR's before this season in just under 1300 abs

Not that this probably factored into this decision but this also lets them use Bandy and Susac at 1st in AAA. Giving them consistent atbats and possibly some positional flexibility if they make it back to the bigs. Cordell probably gets some time there too. He might be a super utility guy for them next year.

Yeah, the RH Overbay comparison seems pretty apt. I am generally skeptical of most Colorado Springs explosions, but looking at it wondered if maybe Cooper just hit his stride...but then you realize how many late 20s guys put up video game numbers in the PCL so nah.
The only way I could see Cooper being a very good player is if he was one of those changed launch angle guys (I have no clue if he is or not) and finally hit his stride with the juiced ball this year.

Sounds like a lot of posters on bf.net. Like they completely ignored that he was 26 and a mediocre at best offensive player until he got to Colorado Springs.

Here are his splits
Colorado Springs/Home--.442BA/.503OBP/.829SLG/1.333OPS
Road-- .300BA/.359OBP/.500SLG/.859OPS
He was still pretty good in road games. but in Colorado Springs Cooper put up video game numbers. That doesn't mean he won't be a solid MLB hitter, but that park inflates every hitter.
The nice thing about Webb is if he pans out in the majors, the Brewers control his rights for six years. Most relievers on the market will be rentals or have far fewer controllable years. In AAA this year Webb had an insane 47/3 K/BB ratio. Obviously he won't do that vs big league hitters, but it's impressive.

Yeah and basically all of the PCL heavily favors hitters so even road splits have to be taken with a grain of salt.
