Garza's given up 16 ER in 16.1 career innings at Coors Field.

If we win this one, anything else is gravy in this series.

Already saw the game via hacked stream.

*spoiler* Brewers win 8-7.

Garza is going to get vaporized, but the Brewers can afford to go to the pen early and will score a lot of runs themselves. I wouldn't mind if Garza loses his spot in the rotation in favor of Suter.

It would've be a huge break if Arenado missed some games with his hand injury but everything I've seen is that it's minor he's going to play through it.

Scrubs won. If we can somehow come back after this 9 game trip within a couple of games I'd be thrilled. I don't see it, I think we come back about 5 games out. At least. Oh well, meaningful baseball at this stage of the season is definitely gravy

He's in the lineup tonight.

Need to at worst have a 4-5 trip and avoid something like a 2-7 finish.

Santana just backed off from catching the ball. God he's horrible.

Never had a chance with Garza, but the offense and defense leave a lot to be desired too.

Switch Braun to right field and Santana to left field. It puts the better fielder at the more important position. Domingo is not a right fielder.

I miss the inexplicably non-suck a@@ Garza of the early season. Can we just not start him anymore, please :)

Yea, Santana is a talented young hitter, but man he is brutal defensively and it's hard to envision him improving much in that regard. Bad defenders tend to stay bad defenders.

Come next year, if both Phillips and Brinson show they can hit major league pitching, i'd be for shopping Santana and playing Phillips if a trade was made.

We probably lose anyway but him not tracking the ball properly cost us a few runs tonight. The most annoying thing is he looks like he doesn't give a **** about it.

Yeah I cool with garza never starting for the crew again.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.

Many of us have been singing this song for quite a while. Can we ALL finally agree that he is absolute trash? Please, please, please let him be the one who loses his spot once Suter comes back! Pipe dream, I know. He's a "solid veteran who battles, and always gives his team a chance to win, blah blah blah" - Craig Counsell

The inevitability of this is so frustrating. I was looking at the rotation to see if they could have skipped his start or something, but I guess not with Suter and Anderson out. Sigh. If it means they finally move his ass to the bullpen, it could save them a couple wins later. I'll be pissed if he keeps starting though. He's getting absolutely shelled. His e.r.a. is over 12 in his last 3 starts, and could easily be much higher.

Re: Domingo. When he had arm trouble, I wanted to move him to 1b. I still think his length would play there. Remember when Hart moved to 1b and it was a revelation? Domingo wouldn't be that good, but the upgrade in rf would more than make up the difference. The Brewers don't really have any 1b prospects, but they have too many of's. It makes a lot of sense.

Thames would still get a lot of starts against rhp's, but not all of them. He's not that good and he appears to need his fair share of mental days off. And Domingo would still get starts in rf when Phillips needs to spell Brinson or Braun. Some utility guy like Perez could start in rf against lhp's. Aguilar is now down to an .813 OPS despite a disproportionate share of ab's against lhp's, and he's 27 in his first full season with a career OPS of .800 in the minors. He's basically Jason Rogers, so he's not a factor in any of this IMO. And he can't play anything but 1b, which limits some of your flexibility to optimize lineups and switches.

A 1b/lf/rf rotation of Braun, Phillips, Thames, and Santana would be my ideal. With Braun and Thames not being true regulars and with Phillips also being the backup cf, you would have no trouble getting all of them a lot of ab's.
