2017 Playoffs Discussion

Post#1 » by Kerb Hohl » Tue Oct 3, 2017 2:44 pm

Twins are huge underdogs tonight. One game against Severino and then the Yankees bullpen may be as daunting of a task as you can get for 1 game.

I'd be okay with almost anyone winning it all except for probably the Cubs. I don't even disdain the Yankees as much as I used to (though they're probably 2nd on teams I'd prefer not to win).

I don't hate the Cubs. They seem like a pretty cool group of guys for the most part. Arrieta is a jag but Bryant and Rizzo are two of my favorite players in baseball. I'm okay with the Yankees because they built it up the same way every other team has to do. Mostly I just don't want the Rockies or Twins to win because they didn't really earn a playoff series.

I generally am in the same boat on the Cubs. Hate the fans and Lackey. Rest of the team and Maddon seem fine.

I'm all in on Cleveland this year. Just like last year.

Sure, I don't dislike any of the Cubs and I am not actively rooting hard against them now that they've broken the seal.

But, I mean, is there much else to dislike in the playoffs? Mostly big markets but nothing too hateable there and the Cubs are one of those big markets. So, it's like Cleveland, Colorado, Minnesota, Arizona that I'm slightly leaning towards and everyone else is not very hateable bigger market teams, which, the Cubs are still the division rival so they win out by default as to whom I don't want to win (again). It isn't at the level of a Bears or Vikings in the Super Bowl, but they win out as the team I like the least in a sea of other teams that leave me ambivalent.

Hell yes. Nothing would make me happier in these playoffs than the Yankees (actually the Sox) losing hard.

And so begins the most stupid tradition in sports. The champagne locker room party after winning 1 wild card game.

This is what really makes me laugh, wearing protective glasses like the Twins did. Man up for God's sake. The Twins aren't the only one's to wear glasses of course. Here's an interesting article from a couple of years ago on the champagne thing.

I'm with you, just want to see Boston and NY lose.

Would like to see Houston win it all after all that city has been through.
