Kinda wish we had traded for Puig last season.

Yeah, join the club. We've argued it to death on this board but there's a case where you don't overplay your hand under any circumstances. We could easily be going after Machado or Harper next year if we had asked for less for Braun.

Dodgers bullpen is so nasty.

Today's playoff baseball, if you have good pen, just hope for 5 or 6 good innings from your starter and unleash your bevy of hard throwing sub-3 ERA relievers

Slow down there Luke. Harper could end up getting a 500 plus million dollar contract and Boras will want Harper in a big market. As for Machado, Baltimore is going to offer him big money and if he leaves there, it will be for a big market elsewhere.

Obviously saving money on the payroll going forward helps when going after free agents, but young stars like Harper/Machado don't leave their teams for the smallest markets in the league.

Verlander is doing great for the Stros but lets be honest here we arent the Stros. Even if we did trade for him the probabilities were we werent seriously a contender and what HOU gave up in Perez, Cameron, Rogers and Rivera was a lofty price tag. For us that would have looked like Woodruff/Ortiz, Ray, Erceg level player and a lotto ticket like Mallen or Demi. Thats a pretty big price tag.

Trade was basically done but we couldnt agree on the prospect and it fell apart. Puig, McCarthy, and a prospect. Really missed out on that one. One of the few DS blunders.

Only two games in so it's far from over but great to see the Cubs down 2-0.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Both games have been very entertaining games as well. This Dodgers team is a very complete team.

For whatever it's worth, I think the Dodgers were the ones that backed out but in hindsight if DS just said "we don't even need the prospects, just complete the trade" we'd have won.

They did back out. We had prospects we wanted and they werent willing to cough them/him up. LAD absolutely backed out. Sorry if I implied differently.

No, not at all. Frustrating that we didn't make the trade. I guess my positive spinzone is that if one is willing to say that Puig wasn't going to win it all for us in the near future and/or he wouldn't have netted great prospects in another trade, maybe (unlikely) we can give Braun away to somebody in the perfect situation where he agrees to it this year or next nullifying the salary impact of things.

Really fun watching a hitter get fooled on 95 at the knees on the outside corner swinging like an idiot getting a home run. **** Yankee Stadium.

I was hoping the Dodgers would put the Cubbies down last night to not give them any life, but they see another day. Hard to see the Dodgers losing 4 in a row, but just never know. Dodgers need to jump on them in Game 5.

Only good thing for me with the Cubs in it is I at least have someone to root against. If it's Yankees/Astros vs. Dodgers, I really won't have a strong allegiance. I really don't mind any of those 3 teams. Unlike most, I actually don't mind the Yankees and their team this year is kind of unique for NY standards.

**** Hernandez has a career .236/.312/.413 line. He has 3 home runs and 7 RBI this game. 7 RBI is one less run than the Cubs have in the series.

Well, it's Enrique and there's supposed to be an accent mark over the e but I didn't feel like figuring out the alt whatever number combination.
