Carpenter moves to 3rd, Martinez stays in a corner outfield spot.

If you think Shildt is going to let Martinez be their everyday right fielder, you a haven't been paying attention.

I feel like Martinez will definitely go in a deal to an AL team.

David Samson's interview with Le Batard was hilarious this week. He's no longer under contract with the Marlins, so he was able to speak "freely" on the league. Lots of interesting tidbits - like the Padres have been caught giving fake medical records to teams in trade talks at least twice.

I was surprised Dan didn't remember that. It was huge news!

I didn't remember that, myself. I'm now seeing that it was reported on back then, but I honestly had no recollection. I'm guessing that's because it involved the Padres, lol.

Preller got suspended for a month because of it. I remember that it happened now but forgot about it until you brought it up.

So this wasn't a fever dream yesterday, Harold Baines and Lee Smith are actual HOF'rs.

I don't have a problem with Lee Smith being a HOF. I think Harold Baines belongs in the Hall-of-Very-Good.

The whole way that Baines and Lee Smith got in is the odd part. The side door entry of the "Today's Game" committee that like 5 or 6 of the 16 members are the butt of jokes.

3/$50 for the Phillies on McCutchen. They came into the offseason with money to spend but that's steep.

This is such a weird deal now. The top free agents are still on the market. Get them signed first and then come back to McCutchen if you strike out or still want him. I don't think any other team was going to go 3/50 for him.

My only guess is that they got the idea that Harper was going to cost an obscene amount and know that there are 4-5 teams bidding for him. So they weren't gonna get Harper and they avoided bidding against the 3-4 losers of the Harper sweepstakes.

Dodgers just dumped a ton of salary on the Reds.

Is this the precursor to Harper in LA?

I'm not sure I really get this for the Reds at all. What am I missing here?
