Even with the whole recency bias of the Reds getting smoked by Thames, I still couldn't believe they walked Thames to get to Yelich in the 4th.

You're down 2-0, 2 out, 2nd and 3rd. Thames is easier to get out, and if he doesn't get out, he's probably taking a walk anyways.

Basically a ball in play that is not an out puts you down 3+ runs, probably at least 4.

Anyway, it worked for the Reds, but I did think that was an odd decision as scorching hot at Thames is against them.
