Jhoulys Chacin (RHP, 2-1 with a 3.99 ERA) versus Brandon Finnegan (LHP, 0-2 with a 8.03 ERA)

Game 31: Tuesday, May 1 at 6:10PM CST

Chase Anderson (RHP, 2-2 with a 2.86 ERA) versus Homer Bailey (RHP, 0-3 with a 4.19 ERA)

Game 32: Wednesday, May 2 at 6:10PM CST

Wade Miley (LHP) versus Luis Castillo (RHP, 1-3 with a 7.85 ERA)

Can't go wrong with Bailey, although if his e.r.a. was over 6 on the year, I'd be a little more confident in the likelihood of him shutting the Brewers out.

I get the facetious nature of these posts, but other than maybe just a crappy game, I'd be stunned if we get shut out against these pitchers (Castillo struggling) at this ballpark.

Nobody was going to be scoring many runs at Wrigley with the wind blowing in each day (go figure, it is gusting out tonight) and basically the Cubs won on hitting the ball a little bit harder in play and some atrocious defense by the Brewers.

It's hard to give the offense the benefit of the doubt lately. Also Bailey threw 7 shut-out innings against the Brewers on 9/27 last year. Came into that game with an e.r.a of 6.93. Brewers missed the wild card by one game just a few days later.

I don't think I'll ever forget that game.

If someone could do it, it's Bailey, sure.

I don't think it can be overstated how little run-scoring would be done in that Wrigley series. I only watched a bit, but one of the innings I watched said enough. In game 2, Yelich hit a game tying sac fly to deep RF that I think would've been out on the street if the wind was blowing out.

The Reds are a **** pitching staff (the Cubs' numbers were ****, but we know they're good), at a crackerbox ballpark, in much better weather conditions. The Brewers offense needs a lot of work, but they'll score some runs this series. The biggest fear I might have is Castillo working out whatever issues he has.

Tonight's O/U is 9.5. The entire Wrigley series was 7.5 and several of the games dropped to 7.

Dudes, I thought our offense was going to be bad ass, what the hell is going on? And I thought our pitching was going to be a bucket of ass but seems much better than expected.

Just looked up our pitching, 4th best starter ERA and 4th best relief ERA according to baseball reference. Hopefully Miley has something and Nelson comes back where he left off.

The bullpen (in my opinion) was going to be good. Nothing is really surprising me there other than maybe Jeffress being as good as he has been.

The starting pitching and offense will swing back the other way a bit and even out. That last series (weather being noted) threw things off a bit. That said, playing a bucket of ass at 2B and having nothings like Jett Bandy hanging around may be a big damper on it. Santana will get his bat going and while I think Arcia is never going to reach the heights we thought he may, he'll be better than this.

Yeah but the bullpen also lost our closer pretty early. I'm not guessing this starting pitching is sustainable but it's been much better than I feared, that is for sure. Excited to see how Miley looks.

Any timeline with Nelson?

Yes the Brewers were lucky in that inning. Braun should've been called out on strikes.

Yes, I've watched even the minimal amount of baseball required to know that literally happens every game.
