While I've thought the Pirates are somewhat well constructed/run to be "better than you think" since they started to tear things down last year and they have a pretty good record this year...this is the final oasis save for 2 against the Twins (who also are better than they've shown) before facing competing teams every series until June 1.

So I guess it's safe to assume the Brewers sweep this series, and then go on to lose almost every game until June 1st.

Davies was put on DL with rotator cuff inflammation. No word on who's replacing him yet.

The Milwaukee Brewers made unexpected injury news Thursday when they announced right-hander Zach Davies was placed on the 10-day disabled list with rotator cuff inflammation.

The move was retroactive to Monday, the day after Davies' most recent start, and the club announced he is expected to miss just one turn in the rotation. He was scheduled to pitch Saturday against Pittsburgh at Miller Park, but right-hander Jhoulys Chacin now will make that start.

The Brewers said a corresponding player move to replace Davies on the roster would be announced Friday.

There had been no indication that Davies, 25, was ailing. He pitched well last time out on Sunday against Chicago, holding the Cubs to two runs over 5 2/3 innings in a 2-0 loss at Wrigley Field.

Over his previous three starts, Davies posted a 2.00 earned run average.

Overall, Davies is 2-3 with a 4.24 ERA in six starts.
Because of the off-day Thursday, Chacin will be starting on normal rest Saturday against the Pirates.

The Brewers have another day off Monday, so if Davies spends only 10 days on the DL, he'd be ready to rejoin the rotation when a fifth starter is needed again.

"We are being cautious and skipping ," general manager David Stearns said. "With the off-days we have, it gives us a nice opportunity to give Zach a little time while allowing the rest of the rotation to stay on turn."

The 10-day DL seems to have increased this type of stuff pretty heavily.

Also, regarding the tough schedule, on June 1 we go to an improving White Sox team and then have 2-3 more weeks of good opponents. We'll know if we should be in the mix for sure by late June.

Looks like they're just bumping Chacin up a day.

I thought that Yelich had a no doubter home run on that, can't believe it went foul.

That Aguilar strikeout had to be ugliest of the year by a Brewer. He swung at a pitch that almost hit him in the head.

For that last few years we have been very close to the bottom of the league for BA with RISP. Is this due more to coaching?
