Reds at Brewers Series

Post#1 » by MickeyDavis » Mon Aug 20, 2018 1:51 pm

Monday - 7:10 - Bailey vs. Anderson

Tuesday - 7:10 - Romano vs. Guerra

Wednesday - 1:10 - Stephenson vs. Peralta
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Nah, going for a good draft pick at this point.

Do we all (most) people really dislike Counsell that much to be fired? I think we need to talk about this because almost every comment I see (maybe not here as i haven't been as active) is about how bad Counsell is.

Knebel
I think he played Knebel at closer as long as he should have. He tried to let Knebel figure it out and it didn't work. I also have seen that we should pitch our best pitchers first then the next best in the 9th. He's been doing this all year. I mean beyond Knebel, who is our 3rd guy you would trust in the 9th? I don't think there is anyone right now.

Lineups
Lineups, alot of people complain about his lineups but part of it is people (especially on facebook) don't look to see if a lefty or righty is pitching. I'll also say we've had quite a few injuries and that may have contributed to seeing alot more different lineups.

Starting Pitchers
Pulling them to soon? I see this as well but we had the best bullpen in the league so Counsell was playing the numbers, right?

Anything else? These are obviously my opinions but right now i don't think Counsell is a bad or great manager. I think he's playing the numbers most of the time and it hasn't been working out like it was in the first half.

He isn't perfect but I feel like most people here are pretty happy with him

The reds have lost 14 of the last 15 Homer Bailey starts. That's crazy.

I know Thames is banged up but odd not to see him in a lineup against the Reds.

LOL at how Schroeder went from how good Chase is on extra rest to how sometimes its hard to command your pitches coming off extra rest...

Schoop has been awful with us, but we all knew that. Pina is slow as a snail, but we all knew that. Chase gives up homers, but.....well we get it

Thank you, Shaw.

I'd say Schoop is a small step above Arcia at the plate at present. At least he has pop. BUT, if you told me before he became a Brewer he was essentially a harder swinging Arcia I would have absolutely believed you given what I've seen to date. Ugly ugly batters.

Not really understanding why Anderson got pulled. He was at 76 pitches, cruising since the 2nd inning. If he goes one more inning then Hader can lock down the last 2. Seemed pretty logical.

Dilson Herrera K. Remember, not so long ago, we were routinely trotting out glorified journeyman utility man Elian Herrera?!? (Since released from a Mexican League club). Just another in the Stearns lineage of average utility players: I'm looking at you Perez, Sogard, Miller, Saladino et al.

Huh? Dilson Herrera is on the Reds and Elian Herrera was pre Stearns. Not that you are totally wrong, it was just a weird train of thought to get there. :D

I know Dilson is a Red. He reminded me of Elian. And, yes, though he was on a Stearns team. He came aboard the year prior. Apologies. Anyhow, I am just in awe of our bad luck of who we choose at the 2B and SS position. Obviously Arcia is a fantastic defender. Whatevs. It is what it is.
