Regardless of anything else, I like that Counsell understands the rules of managing change when the stakes are high. I doubt we'd ever see him trot out a Jeff Suppan to get shelled in an elimination game.

The biggest problem with this team is how often the offense goes completely cold from game to game. It will be their downfall in the postseason.

Braun and specifically Thames have both been extra trash lately.

The offense really could've used something from either of them there.

Good stuff. A little surprised thames didn't get a start this series. He's been terrible lately but does have like a million homers against cinci the past two years.

Harvey has done well against Thames which is probably more of an indicator than the team he's facing. There are a few bullpen guys that Thames owns (mostly Amir Garret, a lefty) so he could be valuable as a pinch-hitter.

Cain is 1-15 during the home stand. A couple of days off (at least) is a good thing. Glad to see Shaw is ok, he's 5-11 against Harvey.
