Tigers at Crew Final Regular Season Series

Post#1 » by MickeyDavis » Thu Sep 27, 2018 6:20 pm

CANNOT and WILL NOT take Detroit lightly. At worst we'll be a game behind, hopefully we'll be tied if the Pirates come through tonight.

Friday - 7:10 - Zimmerman vs. Davies

Saturday - 6:10 - Norris vs. Miley

Sunday - 2:10 - Turnbull vs. TBD (obviously it depends on if the game matters or not).

All Sunday game start within 15 minutes of each other. Saturday's game is FS1
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

We need to win the division. I don't want to face the Rockies in a one game playoff, even at MP

Rockies ahead of Dodgers atm.

best case scenario, imo,

Rockies and Brewers win their divisions.

Dodgers at Cubs for the WC
1 of them has to lose

D/C at Brewers

Rockies at Braves

Braves at Brewers

Brewers v As

It would be a shame to see one of the two hottest teams eliminated after one game. At this rate I would love to see the Brewers/Rockies in the NLCS.

Yes! Give me Brewers/A's all day. Scary to go to the Coliseum as a Brewers fan but I would do it.

Just found out I'm going on Sunday - my first game of the year (I'll be home this weekend). I'm jacked. Hope it's a meaningful, division-clinching game!

Is there a better way to root for the Cardinals than a series against the Cubs to help nudge us into a Division Title? Nah. There isn't.

I for one cannot wait until the Brewers lose the division by 1 game and several people will say that they knew Counsell not using Hader that one time is the reason for everything.

You're getting out ahead of it because you know there may be some merit to the critique? There are a lot of what-if's out there if you're being honest. LaRussa and Maddon would not have played things the exact same way.

There are a thousand woulda coulda shouldas when you miss out on something by a single game. Pointing out some game where Hader wasn't used ignores the fact that in some other game they did something odd which caused them to win.
At a party given by a billionaire, Kurt Vonnegut informs Joseph Heller that their host had made more money in a single day than Heller had earned from his novel Catch-22.

Heller responds, “Yes, but I have something he will never have — ENOUGH.”

See the post above from Harold.

LOL at Maddon. Some of their fans might murder him right now if allowed to. Every fanbase hates their manager because they perceived that something screwed up. I'm sure it was the same with LaRussa at times.

I can find like 20 things in in-game decisions or acquisition suggestions that you were dead set on during the year that were very wrong. I also had many, I'm sure. The difference is I understand hitting on the majority of decisions is realistic and that they are probably maxing out the innings limit they have on Hader as well as may have won some games because they saved Hader for different situations.

The team was managed extremely well by manager and GM over 162 games. End of story.

Here's an exercise for you: Type in "Joe Maddon terrible" into your twitter search bar (and go to Latest so you get everyone). There are dozens of requests to fire him per day and that is just using the word terrible. There are other adjectives.

What would've happened if CC didn't start Dan Jennings to face Carpenter? Could've been a very different ball game...

The move was relatively inconsequential but it's all calculated.

He put the Cards in position to have to move Carpenter down in the order (win) and not start certain hitters potentially (Cards are mostly righty so may not have been as much of an issue. They might've used Matt Adams early against Peralta, though).

It's something to joke about but if they face the Dodgers in the playoffs they absolutely should do something like this. The Dodgers run majorly on platoons and have to pick 25 guys for their Wild Card playoff roster. If you think that you're going to throw Chacin as your "starter" in game 1, start Cedeno and bring in Chacin really early or something like that. Now the Dodgers put their righty bat lineup in the game (or a bunch of them) and maybe chose different bench players than they would have if they knew a righty was starting. You're playing with 24 guys then, but the idea of an opener is useful.
