NLDS Game 2: Rockies at Crew - 3:15 - FS1

Going to get this going tonight since it's a 3:15 game. I'm going to keep doing game threads as long as we keep winning

Anderson vs. Chacin (on short rest). Chacin started once this year against Colorado, going 5.1 innings, 4 hits, 2 ER. That was at Coors Field. Anderson faced the Brewers once this year, also at Coors at we smashed him, 4 innings, 7 hits, 7 ER. Braun is 5-8 with 3 HR's off Anderson, Shaw 3-5 with a homer and 6 RBI's. So I expect Shaw to play even though Anderson is a southpaw. Anderson pitched great Sunday against an unmotivated Nats team, 7.2 shutout innings.
HUGE TO GO UP 2, LET'S GO!

Baseball is the easiest sport to write to and that's about the time I get bizzy on Fridays. Tomorrow is going to be a great day.

I am so tempted to take a PTO day tomorrow but will hold back- thinking we will make it to the NLCS. If this was 2008 Brewers i am taking the PTO day for sure.

Left a lot of runs out there.
Baseball is so much different than any other sport. Unless you have a huge talent lean, it's almost a toss up every single night. I knew why Stearns went after Moose and Granderson....playoff baseball. My only major gripe is letting Broxton hit with Granderson on the bench. That was the exact situation why Stearns went and got him.
Like I said before, you just have to enjoy the ride because we could still easily win or lose this series. That's baseball.

Pretty sure Broxton came in and faced a lefty, and Granderson has been awful against lefties. The real issue is waiting until there was 1 strike to attempt a bunt. Broxton should have been up there squeezing the very first pitch

Yeah I'm gonna leave it to the guys that have played the numbers correctly all year rather than "playoff experience."
Wonder if we should've started Granderson over Yelich...

Seriously ? Yes, that was exactly my point. Granderson should start over Yelich.
Please. Broxton is hitting .170. Call me crazy, I'm not letting him be a possible deciding factor at the plate.
And I was a Broxton supporter when most wanted him dumped.

Broxton has barely played in the majors this year so of course his stats are crap on a smallish sample.
Over Broxton's career he's at .234/.350/.440 against lefties, which is good. He strikes out a lot but Granderson also does against lefties at this point in his career.
Granderson is .174/.296/.261 against lefties this year which is a fair sample to take because that's what he currently is.

Well if you are banking on that, I don't agree, but can at least respect the difference of opinion. I still go Granderson every time. Playoff experience does help. There is a reason those types of guys get picked up every year

I added it in, but check Granderson vs. lefties this year...
.174/.296/.261.
Almost as bad in 2017. Even over a career where you factor in his good years he only hits .222 with a .695 OPS against lefties.

And I also added in that a guy like Granderson is gonna attack the plate appearance pertinent to the situation. Broxton only has one swing. I saw that K coming from a million miles away. Broxton is thinking home run. With one out, we need contact. Horrible AB

Granderson strikes out a ton as well, especially against lefties.
Anyways, enjoy having an extremely analytic management team running your favorite baseball team and the 95 wins/#1 seed they brought with them.

Think and hope so. As I think you said before the series, Freeland and Marquez are going in games 3 and 4 so this one is pretty important.

]Anderson we should... have a good hitters day. Lets get back to what we did all of september and get walks
Side question about Jhoulys Chacin- was going through his career stats today. I have no idea how WAR is calculated but how is it possible for him to have a better ERA, better WHIP, and more innings pitched, this year, and have a worse WAR. 2.00 WAR this year, 2.4 last year.

I feel like after watching them play the cubs and the game last night, the Rockies are gonna be a tough out. They seem like they just hang around and like us have a pretty deep and potent lineup. Kinda worried what the pen is gonna look like today if Chacín doesn’t pitch a jem. How amazing has Chacín been down the stretch by the way. If you would’ve said we’d have the best record in the NL without getting Nelson back all year, Davies being hurt, and Chase going to crap late in the year, and Chacín was our ace? I would’ve said no way possible.

Our pen is in good shape. Hader only pitched 1 inning. Freddy is out there. JJ will be the 9th inning guy again.
Main thing is our offense. We should pwn Williams. Would like to see someone not named Yelich step up- this may be the game for Brauny to do something huge. Brauny pwn that lefty.

So much fun to have a Brewers team with a legit shot to win it all. Step #2 on that path only five hours away.
