OT: But I find it weird Garth Brooks is doing Spring Training still. He's 57 years old, time to let it go. Kind of cool as a one-time thing when he was in his 30s but I couldn't imagine being a young guy trying to make the team a guy who isn't even that big of a star anymore is taking away swings and face time.

It is totally weird that he is still doing spring training but he is still a pretty big star. He was the michael jordan of country music and is still relevant.

I think MJ is a good comparison. It was entertaining when he did when he was still young/an athlete; but if Jordan tried minor league baseball again i would cringe even though he is still a big name.

Right? Couldn't be in a worse part of town. Really wish the deal with Gilbert would have went through the proposed site was right up the street from me. With that said I have always liked the ballpark and I'm excited to see the upgrades.

Don't do it! The curse of the Brewers opening day starter is very real! Keep some scrub on the opening 25 just to make this token start.

They've played this thing correctly, I think.

I think Kratz's contract is $300k if he's in the minors and something over a million if he's in the majors.

It's a nice insurance policy to have him in the minors. For Kratz, he has some sort of certainty.

I'd assume someone could pluck him if sent down/DFA'ed and it's not a huge loss if so.

My only issue is that we're probably going to platoon Grandal for his rest...Pina is clearly the #2 guy and he should be but he has reverse splits...not great against LHP. I'd imagine that some of that is an aberration. But otherwise they're gonna pick games that we're facing a LHP to give Grandal his rest. It won't be the traditional "day game after a night game or end of series" when Grandal gets his days off. Might be if we have a long string of RHP that we face over a week or two he'll get those days off but otherwise it's gonna be when we face lefties.

Seemed inevitable when he didn't get many nibbles this offseason. Gives them room to be more patient with Hiura if necessary.

I thought he had a player option of 15 million that he turned down?
