Its really too bad we couldn't (or didn't) somehow trade Braun so we could watch Domingo mash during his prime years. I'll always root for the guy.

I was afraid of Khris Davis 2.0

I share similar sentiment but that one looks like it only would have gone out of the park at Yankee Stadium or the Tokyo dome.

The Santana trade was the only trade I didn't like this offseason. This trade would especially suck if there will be DH in the NL next year.

Wild. Hasn't taken a MLB at bat but it seems like a brilliant deal for the team.

Yeah, the owners have won. I do think that these are still nice extensions for guys like Eloy and Bregman but obviously could cost both of them like $30-40 million off of their next contract. This will probably change when the next labor agreement is made but it was a weird market swing that probably involved some greed from the owners and some enlightenment on older players from the GMs where it has now become just a smart idea to take your money now before a system is made that pays guys out a little earlier.

Who are the richer than God owners in MLB? I don't understand why guys like Keuchel and Kimbrel and Grandal weren't swallowed up by monster one or two year deals. Grandal sorta got his but there shouldn't be anything keeping some mega rich owner buying 8 wins with the stroke of a pen.

Part of this has to be on the player's side though too. Do you sign a 1 year deal and then run the risk of getting hurt and destroying your future earning potential? Or, do you hold out for a longer deal and then at least if you do get hurt you protected some of your future income. It could also be pressure from the MLBPA and/or agent to not sign a 1 year deal because of the continued impact it would have on the free agent market.

I just don't think it's as simple as saying so and so would sign a 1 year deal if the offer was big enough... unless that offer was literally stupid money like $20 million for 1 year. Somewhere, there's also been an active decision on the other side of this by the player's camp to not sign for any possible number of different reasons.

I really really really hope we don't regret trading Domingo.

I think Domingo will hit the ball well. He pretty much always did except for early last season.

Funny he took Thornburg deep tonight. He's been a disaster for the Sox
