Shaw likely to be stashed on IL for now
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Re: 2019 Brewers Trades/News - Keston Being Called Up
I’m all for forfeiting said picks at this point and I love Roth, but a more complete analysis would be the range of picks. I know he’s doing this for the simple argument but it’s possible that pick 133 has not been great but picks 131-140 have yielded 3 HOF players and several multiple time all stars or something.
I ended up looking for fun and in the 130s generally out of the 55 years of the draft you’ll have 1-2 MLB mainstays and 7-10 guys that made a dent. So maybe a 20% chance at an MLB player and a 5% chance at a very valuable one.
I think the grander point is that teams are being cheap. However, there’s a very near inflection point where even just moderate extra spending/activity bumps Keuchel up to 4/$90 or something due to lots of bidding and that team might quickly regret that.
I also think that once we got into May, both Keuchel and Kimbrel figured they’d wait this thing out into June. Now nobody will be worried about losing a pick and you’ll maybe have bidding between the Twins who are certain they’re legit and a few teams that are banged up but think they’re a player away from staying in it.
This is all interesting and the next labor negotiation really will be.

I am surprised the big market teams like the cubs have not signed either of them. They can afford to be without picks- and just sign more free agents. Brewers are in a tough situation- this whole draft pick compensation for free agents really back fired on MLB. I would hope its one of the things that gets discussed in the next CBA

At this point we're so close to the draft that nobody is going to give up a pick now, even if the chances that the picks amounts to much are slim. I definitely think we will see a mini bidding war for both of them once the draft passes.

Great to have Jimmy back.

Sweet sweet nectar. May the baseball gods bless him w health and the strength to keep on coming on.
As an aside, if they are indeed planning to bring Shaw’s baseball carcass to the Big Club as reported, would they seriously consider sending Keston back down? His bat has been pretty damn good and appears to be getting better. Isn’t the obvious candidate Jesus?

No way Keston gets sent down.
With Shaw back up they are really left handed heavy, maybe Moose goes on the IL? Will be interesting to see what they do.

I don't think you've ever watched South Park if you think this is a thing.

Yeah I could see them giving moose 10 days to get his broken finger healed up. Then it's put up or leave time for Shaw or agular.tski1972 wrote:No way Keston gets sent down.

Just because I’m 10-15 years ago South Park relevant, and use dad jokes, does not mean you get away with this. You will NOT terrorize my Imagggggggiiiiinaaaa-a-a—ation!

I'm wondering if Aguilar will now have "leg weakness" if Moose doesn't have to sit out. An injury would generally clear things up and can and will happen over the next 2-3 months but I don't think they want to cut bait on Shaw, Thames, Aguilar even though there are compelling reasons to do so...so they'll figure something out here.
Shaw has an option but it seems like they may not want to officially send him down for some reason, probably some handshake agreement or respect of a veteran thing.
