I blame the crowd. They need to support the players.

A Jacob Barnes-led bullpen game. Lovely. Can this season please start taking itself seriously?

I'm sure he'll probably get there at some point but so far Donnie Hart hasn't made the relievers I hate list yet.

Braun is a washed up problem.

Ugh, ump is a bit generous on the corner to a guy struggling to locate, Braun misses a fastball that was right down the middle, and then swings at pitch off the inside corner. Yuck

I really want to see Corbin Burnes succeed but he can't even have just one outing to feel good about, even in relief.

Counsell really leaving him out to dry here too.

This bullpen

WTF is this? For all the credit Stearns receives, he deserves just as much criticism: this is a failed plan to date. You look at the minors as well and the cupboard is fairly bare suddenly. This bullpen is an embarrassment.

Braun is being phased out or at least platooned. It's necessary. He'll be at "only" $13 million ($3 mil deferred) next year and that's it. $4 mil buyout in 2021.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Depth maybe should be better but I bet if you ripped the arm off of any team's 2 best relievers, the rest is going to suck unless you're the Yankees and bought 5 good/elite relievers.

They invested in their offense this offseason and it turns out that pitching, specifically bullpen, was where they may have needed to buy some depth.

Also, bullpens start out slow for whatever reason. I can't imagine a worse start for our pen and the Brewers still have about the 10th worst bullpen in the league. The Dodgers, Red Sox, Yankees, A's, Cubs, Phillies, Braves, Twins are either about even with or not a ton better than the Brewers so far in bullpen performance depending on how you're evaluating. The Cards' bullpen has a better ERA but xFIP/FIP/WAR actually has them the same or worse.

I dunno, this is small market baseball. We had a nice grouping of Hader, Jeffress, Knebel + 1 or 2 of Guerra/Burnes/Woodruff in the bullpen. That's 4-5 elite or reliable arms and you can deploy Claudio against mostly lefties and in perfect situations. That's really good.

Now we're stuck with Hader, Guerra, and Claudio is forced to be a high leverage guy. Jeffress is finally there but he's not the same.
