Damn Hiura really struggles in the field sometimes. I know he’s young, I’m hopeful it’ll get better, but damn...

Time to trot out another rando mediocre pitcher tonight. I miss Ben Sheets.

Did we trade for Marquis Grissom?

Some of THE best worst K’s in Brewer history right there. Talk about a hitter who chased those off plate off-speed pitches. Yowza.

Jeffress gives up a run. Um. Yeah. Not shocking. Are there more runs up his sleeve? Chomping at the bit!

Very nice start. Left one too many Home Run Derby meatballs down the heart of the plate but got away with a number of them. Curveball was generally well placed. Hopefully he can be serviceable like he was last year. Wanted to stay up and watch the whole game but the relievers really slowed things down. Glad to see we got the W.

Grisham will be in the lineup today

Re: Brewers @ Athletics Series Thread (7/30-8/1)
Fun with small sample sizes: "Thames can hit lefties this year" (in 27 at-bats) now after last night's 0/4 is approaching his career norm (of not good).
They may need another RH bat off of waivers (can't do trades anymore, just waivers) but I'm not sure where it fits on the roster.
I guess Shaw could get sent down for Hernan or some other marginal RH bat in a series against a bunch of lefties. Only one month to get through this, I guess.

Grisham will obviously get regular AB's. I guess in place of Gamel. Maybe Gamel can play some first? Braun could but you'd still have Gamel and Grisham for one OF spot.

It appears Gamel has logged 2 MLB innings at 1B so I guess it wouldn't be a complete no, but I'd probably think you'd go with Braun or Grandal at 1B.
Gamel is a decent outfielder on defense while Braun is actually not as bad as I had thought but probably a slight downgrade.
When you're facing a lefty, Braun or Grandal give you a platoon advantage or decent platoon advantage at 1B.
If facing a righty, it had better be Thames or Shaw at 1B. Grisham may give Braun or Cain a rest against RHP. Today they have a DH so not a huge deal.

Re: Brewers @ Athletics Series Thread (7/30-8/1)
Looks like other than the Cubs there are a lot of righties coming up so Grisham should be able to get a lot of time and they won't have to lean too much on the questionable 1B platoon issues.
In a month you're playing 40-man bench ball and you don't totally mind Grisham being on the bench given that their AAA season is over in early September. You've got options like Hernan or I guess Freitas if you're dying for a RH bat at 1B or off the bench.
