Re: Rangers @ Brewers Series Thread - (8/9-8/11)
Relievers feel like catching lightning in a bottle (except for the rare exceptions that do it consistently year in and year out) every year. Unless Hader can be turned into an effective starter (don’t see how that could happen now) they may do best by trading him this offseason. He seems like the kind of pitcher that could just lose it all the sudden.
But it’s a gamble for sure. Nothing is written in stone.

Pitchers in general feel like that between injuries and varying effectiveness. That's why when you're a payroll budget team you're probably best to go the quantity over the super high end route and hope some of that quantity work out.Iheartfootball wrote:Relievers feel like catching lightning in a bottle (except for the rare exceptions that do it consistently year in and year out) every year. I'd be fine dealing hader if they got a big package. If they don't trade him I would like to see someone else close because I do think he's best utilized more strategicly vs a pure closer.

Question for people wanting to trade Hader.
Do you think the trade could help more in the pursuit of a world series in the next 2 years?
The chances we sign Yelich is slim. Thus we may have to trade him before the 2022 season or at the deadline.
Hader would still be valuable around the same time Yelichs contract is up.
I'm just not optimistic that we can sign Yelich to a 30-40+ a year.

Hader would rebuild the system in one move.
No interest in re-signing Yeli. We got his prime.

What do you think we would get for Hader that would rebuild the system in one move? (Maybe keep in mind the Stroman trade<probably more valuable than Hader)
The minors system? That doesnt equal automatic MLB players.
See Yelich trade.

Grisham goes 3-3 in leadoff. Cain still in a season-long struggle. Let’s pop Grisham down to 7. Get Cain back to the top.

If the crew can win six in a row and get yelich healthy that is a huge boost.

I imagine it is only because the Rangers are starting a lefty today, though it does look like Grisham has handled LHP just fine this year in the minors.

Yeah it's the lefty thing. Grisham had some rough at bats game one of this series against that young lefty so that might have influenced this choice.Turk Nowitzki wrote:bizarro wrote:Grisham goes 3-3 in leadoff. Overall Trent's done well and it's been needed with yelich out. Man would it be a major shot in the arm if he keeps playing well and can be a major contributor moving forward.
