Climactic moment on the hr by Braun and maybe win of the season. If they lose that one, hard to envision them coming back from 5 down in the division. But 3, w/ the Cards having a tough schedule, is very doable. And 7 games against the Cubs. One of those teams have to lose. Basically if the Brewers win a good majority of their games they'll be in some version of the playoffs. May only end up being for one game on the road, which is why you want that division or at least 1st WC. Also worthy of note the Cards play the Nats a few times.

Obviously I blew it on the sweep call, but my confidence didn't waver. This team has been winning more than they lose with a bad run differential all year, and there's no reason this series should be any different. It's almost like they're designed that way.
16 games in a row against teams that will be at least 10 games under .500 as of tomorrow morning. Last time the schedule softened up that much, they had just split with Houston and were 10 games over .500 (at 39-29) for just the second time all year. Their next 26 games were against teams that currently have a losing record. I'm not sure the Padres, Giants, and Pirates had losing records at the time, but the point remains that they were mediocre at best.
The Brewers lost 19 of those 26 games. Something similar happened last year when they started nose-diving before the ASB. I don't think it's enough data to conclude that it's anything more than Just Baseball, but let's hope they can refute the notion that they play down to their competition once and for all here.

Yeah, even though we technically don't control our own destiny, we basically do based on the schedules for the other contenders

They technically do control their own destiny because Cardinals/Cubs play 7 times and one has to lose at least 4. If the Brewers won all 13 against these crap team they would at least get WC2.
