Well, here we go. Pitchers and catchers reported on 2/17. Position players report on Monday.

As I look out at the two feet of snow in my yard, this makes me feel good.

Based on the first 11 innings of spring training I'm pretty sure we're gonna be world champs.

If the offense can just be average, I think the Brewers are gonna have a really nice year.

To me, the wild cards are Cain, Urias, and Shaw. I feel that Garcia and Narvaez will bounce back to career norms, and that Yelich and Hiura will as well. Wong should have a good OBP/~10 HR year in Miller Park.

We don't know what we have in Urias, he's really hit well in the minors but hasn't put it together in MLB. Cain is nearing 35 and hasn't played significant baseball since fall of 2019. Shaw is a couple years removed from being productive.

I do agree their offense only needs to be average to be a good team. The top of their rotation is really good, and their pen is going to be dynamite. The defense may be the best in MLB with the additions of Wong and JBJ, and the return of Cain. Please, just don't make us watch the 2020 offense over again.

I gotta give it to Stearns, I was underwhelmed initially by Wong and JBJ but both moves have grown on me a lot. The defense overall is so drastically different just going from Huira to Wong at a premium position and adding JBJ to the OF mix. Having 4 OF will shake itself out, all will get ABs. I wouldn't be surprised at all if JBJ is the 2nd most productive OF.

I'm mostly excited for the defense and pitching. To me a big key is Burnes taking a step forward. If he can be a legit top end guy with Woodruff and you pair that with solid middle rotation depth in Hauser and Lindblom (who I believe both can be solid 3/4 guys) then that rotation with that back end of the BP could be nasty.

I think you've essentially hit my exact feelings.

The sad elephant in the room is that the Dodgers, Padres, or maybe Braves would probably stomp all over us even in the event of another magical season...but whatever, I'd enjoy it.

Baseball is unique among sports for me in that while a championship is obviously the goal and would be magical, just being good is enough for me each year. It takes place in the summer, is always in the background when I'm hanging out with family, the Keg is fun when it's packed with Brewer fans. Plus you can talk yourself into lightning in a bottle come October.

I'm the same. I don't watch much baseball other than the Brewers so them being competitive is key for me even paying attention to baseball at all that year. For me it's the perfect on in the background while I play with my kids and don't have to watch every second viewing experience.

Plus with the payroll disparity I rationally can't even get mad if they don't win it all because the playing field just isn't equal. Now that would probably make it even sweeter if they ever won one.

Similar to Badgers sports for me. I'm happy with being good for the most part. I'd like one championship in my lifetime but I appreciate good seasons and know that the deck is stacked against them so they probably won't get it before I'm 6 feet under.

Nice to see a Narvaez dong.

Both he and Lauer I had very high hopes for (well, I mean to be serviceable/good players) and they were absolute garbage last year.

Moved out of the city about three years ago. Has it become fashionable to see dongs since I left?

Lauer, double woof. Looking like a lost cause.
