If true, why not sign him to an extension. To answer my own question, it would seem Stearns does not necessarily want an extension, otherwise he’d probably have one

I'm sure it's intriguing for him to have double the payroll to work with

Yup. It's getting painfully obvious he's not long for the small market anymore and probably wants to cut his teeth in the big market with massive financial backing.

And if thats the case, rather just move on vs. delaying the inevitable and having someone that may not be 100% invested running the show. I mean he has been successful no doubt, so that makes it tougher to part from Brewers standpoint.

Yup, I'd rather not have a lame duck as POBO.

I can’t believe how much my enthusiasm for the brewers(baseball) has went down the last few years. Until recently I rarely missed a pitch for the whole 162. I’m not even bothered by the lockout and could care less when they start back up. When I was a kid, I was such a diehard I’d listen to mostly static trying to pick up Wtmj in Ohio.I kept that fandom all the way currently into my 40’s. I don’t know what happened, maybe Giannis and the bucks took all my attention
I’m still a fan, just from a much farther distance.

You probably aren't alone. I think in general the last couple of years have just diminished the joy I get from watching sports. Certainly hasn't helped that most of the games for the Bucks and Brewers I can't even watch because of Ballys.

I went from going to 15 or so Bucks games, 5 or so Brewer games a year, to maybe one of each. Part of it is not living near downtown any longer and having a second kid, just makes the logistics and the cost not really worth it to me.

So will Keston not suck now that he can just be DH? I sure hope so.

Not having to play the field will help him but I'm still not optimistic.

Yeah, I think the kids do it.

That and just how media has changed.

I am still into baseball/Brewers for all 162 but 95% of that is because I play fantasy/bet on it.

But even so, if I've got time at night, I'll throw on some show on Netflix and keep an eye on the Brewers game/scores around the league on my phone. I can put it on for some key at bats, etc.

Different than the old days of having the game on before I would go out with friends/at my place when I wasn't married/with kids. At that point, the choices during summer was like a COPS rerun or something or Brewers. Now I can watch a good show and still keep an eye on the Brewers.

So how are we feeling about this year? Yelich sucks again? Another choke in the postseason?

With Yelich's extension kicking in we really need him to not suck, he'll be taking up 25% of the payroll.

Well we certainly can't outbid anyone. If the Dodgers or Padres really want him they will get him.

Yeah, I'm worried that the Yelich contract could be the worst in baseball here shortly.

We have a lot of arby guys to sign but based on Spotrac estimates we will be at about $101 million payroll. We won't be adding any good bats unless we trade pitching.

Dodgers will be at about $220 million. MLB sucks
