Brewers/Cubs Series

This will be brutal, for both teams. All pressure on the Cubs though. I'd be thrilled to go 3-2 and ok with 2-3. Want to avoid 1-4 and of course 0-5. As this thread goes up the Cubs/Pirates are 3-3, we'll be up 8 or 9 games.

Really need Freddy to finish 6 tomorrow. We'll be calling someone up for game 2. All pitching matchups subject to change.

Monday - 1:20 - Peralta vs. Horton
Monday - 7:05 - TBA vs. TBA
Tuesday - 7:05 - Woodruff vs. Boyd
Wednesday - 7:05 - Misiorowski vs. Rea
Thursday - 1:20 - Priester vs. Imanga

Win 2 and you’re fine.

Yep. Take 2 of 5 and the Brewers will be sitting in a great spot. Take 4 or 5 and they might have this thing locked up

Fully expect a tough few days for us but hopefully we can come out as unscathed as possible.

This is going to be a tough one. I’m hoping for 3-2 but as many said would certainly take 2-3 if it was presented to me today. Crew bound to cool off but Cubs aren’t exactly rolling right now.

I see Counsell is getting pissy with Milwaukee related questions so would love to add gas to the fire with a series win.

Just get 2 in this series. Honestly don't care beyond that because other than a fairly tough schedule down the stretch, I don't know if the Cubs can make up 7 games in like 35 remaining. The only other consideration is the bye/home field after that.

At the corner of Addison-Clark
They'll play in the day and the dark
And the stink that you smell
Are the Cubs and their "L"
And the urinal troughs at their park

Wouldn't mind a rainout at all. Move it or them to an open date, or just skip if there is no playoff impact.

It looks like the afternoon game will get in, night game may be delayed. If it gets postponed we'll just have a DH later in the series, we won't gain anything. Wednesday and Thursday there is no rain forecast. I'd rather just get it over with tonight. But if somehow they can't get all 5 games in this week it would be done on September 11, the only common off day left.

I guess they don't want Collins playing 2 after missing the last 3. Game 2 he's probably in, Contreras catching and Yeli DH. Maybe Seigler at 3rd. Durbin has not been good in August. Vaughn is the only player who's faced Horton (0-2). Horton has been really good in July and August. Really good. This is the 4th time this season Freddy has faced them. First start really good. Second start so-so. Third start bad.

Me too. A little surprised at Counsell. Why play this game?

In a piece by veteran Chicago Tribune writer Paul Sullivan published Sunday, Counsell denied knowing anything about George Webb Restaurants—a ubiquitous Wisconsin chain known for giving away free burgers when Milwaukee wins 12 consecutive games.

Quickly sensing the ridiculousness of Counsell—who grew up in Milwaukee's suburbs—never having heard of George Webb, Brewers fans accused the manager of an outright fib. Reporter David Go of WLUK-TV in Green Bay confirmed the lie, unearthing a 2018 article from Adam McCalvy of MLB.com where Counsell praised the restaurant's promotion.

"I remember the concept of free hamburgers going back so long, it's hard to believe that it's never happend since then," Counsell said in '18 as Milwaukee ripped off 12 straight regular-season and playoff wins en route to the National League Championship Series.

What's next? Counsell says no such thing as bratwurst?

I guess I don't blame Greg being annoyed about being asked about the Brewers, given that there's been a 14 game swing in the standings.

Technically he said he'd never seen a George Webb's, not that he didn't know about them.
