This guy is good at one thing, throwing batting practice to the opposing team. He now has a 2.00 WHIP this year, which is mindblowingly bad. Can someone honestly tell me that Capellan or Aquino could not do better than this guy?
We need to upgrade Dessens and Spurling. That's Melvin's next project.

I don't know what you guys expected out of him. We got him for Brady Clark, it was a you take our crap and we'll take yours kind of trade.
I would definitely be in favor of DFA'ing Dessens and bringing up Capellan.
Then when Braun can come up (still hurt Super Two status still in question) we can trade Graffanino.

I wonder if we could get a 26 year old lefty, one that is 4-3 with a whip & ERA of 1.25 and 3.68 respectively. I mean, that's what we gave up for Graffy

Totally sarcastic post. I'm aware that Jorge ran out of trial runs here in Milwaukee and needed a chance every 5th day to prove himself. Glad he's doing that. But that information doesn't change the fact that Graffy & Counsell are the awful, which I was quite vocal about coming into the season.
Go Bucks!

The problem is Dessens is filling a garbage role in the pen. He won't complain because he knows its just about all he is good for. Would we want to waste one of our young pitchers (development) to pitch once every 2 weeks or so? Would they tolerate that just to be 'in the bigs'? Wise, Villy, Bow, Shouse, and CoCo have all looked solid. Spurling has been tolerable after a rough start. Do zachjack, latin cappy, Yo Go, or any of the others seem like end of the pen garbage to you?
I'm not sure what they'll do, but bringing up one of the young guys may not be the best option.
Maybe if Braun gets 100 percent (wrist) we could tighten our belts in the pen and bring him up without sending a position player down (DFA Dessens). Because I don't want to lose any of our young outfielders (gross, gwynn, hart). That'd leave the pen a bit short...but if the starters can continue to go at least 6 innings at least most of the time it might be fine.

Agreed...Capellan has had enough punishment. There's no need to Dessens when he's this bad. With our bullpen, particularly Turnbow and Cordero, getting a ton of action, it wouldn't hurt to have a pitcher who could step in in a 3-run game where bringing in your closer isn't necessary. Plus, it will only increase Capellan's trade value (if in fact the Brewers are really motivated to move him) as teams will realize that the Brewers aren't intent on getting rid of him.
Also, since Dessens primarily only pitches in blowouts, why not have Aquino come up for that, if you refuse to move Capellan?

You wouldn't have to waste their development. Capellan can be a 6th/7th inning guy. I want a pitcher that I know won't come in and allow 5 runs to score each time.
