Perspective on our record

Post#1 » by Ayt » Thu May 17, 2007 2:33 pm

We are currently 16-5 at home and 9-10 on the road. Last year, we had the 4th best record in the NL at home despite being only a 75 win team. The three teams ahead of us all made the playoffs.

This year, we currently have the best record in the NL at home. It seems to me that what often happens with young teams is that in becoming a winning team they win at home and they win against teams they "should beat." Winning on the road comes last. When looking at this years team, it seems very likely to me that we will continue to dominate at home while struggling on the road, especially against good teams. In the end though, we should end up with a very good record, and I'd wager one of the top 2 records at home in the NL.

Even last year, if we went a game under .500 on the road we would have ended up with 88 wins. It is important to remember that very few teams end up with winning records on the road; only three teams in the NL did it last year, with two of them being division winners. Even if we only play .500 on the road overall this year, we should end up with 90+ wins because of our great home record.

This is just something to keep in mind when looking at our record on road trips. Playing .500 ball overall on the road is fine, especially for a young team that tends to play very well at home.

I completley agree. I think if we just sustain a .500 record on the road the rest of the year we will be fine.
