Time for Bush to say "Bye Bye"?

Going into this season, I was a Bush-backer. This guy had solid stuff, wasn't giving up a ton of innings, and was winning games with low run support. It would seem that the rest of the league has caught up to Dave Bush.

Dave Bush is not a tricky pitcher by any means, and he does not have a payoff or putout pitch. Batter after batter has either just crushed his initial throws or fouled hits off until he found a good one to hit or got walked. At first I thought it was just a bump in the road, but teams that aren't known for getting runs are crushing the stuff that Bush is throwing out there. Could it possibly be time to toss him in on a trade with Mench to bring us a reliever? I have to think that Villanueva and Gallardo could fill this spot better.

Villanueva should be starting in place of Bush. He proved himself as a starter at every level and has done a great job in his role this year. Gallardo will eventually replace Vargas or take the spot of Sheets when he inevitably gets hurt.

Bush was a closer in college and has some nice innings. Honestly I think he is way more suited to be in the role Carlos has been in. You can see Bush's big inning coming, but when he is a starter it's not always easy to pull him. When he's coming out of the pen it'll be easier to sit him down.

If he gives up anther 6 runs in a game i think yost will think about putting carlos V in the starting rotation.

Bush sucks, period. He has totally lost it this year and lost us another game last night. Ridiculous.

i agree that bush sure doesn't seem to have it so far this year. its just a question of how long are they willing to let this go? but i tell ya....62.1 IP, 73 hits, 43 runs, BAA of .304, NL starting pitcher worst 6.13 ERA (yes the worst) is not going to cut it. Not when villanueva is doing the same thing he did the end of last year, and gallardo is being gallardo

I was a Bush-backer too, but man, he needs to get his stuff together quickly

His ERA is 6.13, how many more chances should he get?

He just can't locate his stuff at all. He gets behind bad and throws it right down the middle. He is like Doug Davis from last year except Davis would walk the man and not give up a grand slam.

Our division is crap, THIS year we have a golden chance. Melvin has shown he wants to win now by brining Braun up. You can't bring Braun up and then leave Bush in the rotation. If you are going to go for it, you go for it, Bush to the pen. NOW.

Trade Vargas while his value is high because he's not going to keep up with this 3 ERA. Put Villanueva and Gallardo in (I was skeptical about Gallardo being thrown into the fire this year but what else does he have to prove at AAA?) Plus I just watched a video of him pitching in highschool and the ball just explodes out of his hand.

I think it would be funny if we could tag-team Bush and Villanueva. When Bush looks like he's going to fall apart, tag in Villanueva and have him save the day. LOL

If that won't work, bring up Gallardo or move Carlos into his spot. Either way, demote Bush to long relief. He just doesn't know how to keep it going.

I'd give him a couple more starts. If he still continues to struggle, I'd go with Carlos Villanueva first. If that doesn't work out, bring up the kid in the minors...Gallardo.

Put bush in the pen and have Carlos start...god knows he's earned it. The only thing that bothers me about bush in the pen is that he seems to give up alot of !st inning hits.

Dave Bush (MIL - SP)

News: Manager Ned Yost said Saturday that he is not considering moving Dave Bush from the rotation to the bullpen, despite Bush's 6.13 ERA.

Impact: "This kid won 12 games for us last year," Yost said. "It drives me crazy when you struggle a little bit and people want to start digging graves for them. It's not what I'm going to do." Yovani Gallardo could get a chance soon though. He is 6-1 with a 2.14 ERA in nine starts with a minor league-leading 76 strikeouts for Triple-A Nashville :noway:

Ned does have a problem with sticking with guys too long. The problem I have with this move is not that Bush has been bad, it's that Villanueva has proven that he deserves to start.

I don't understand how Bush can have this many opportunities to begin with. Ned uses the "He won 12 games last season" reason, but this is this season. You can't keep hoping he'll find his way starting because recently, it's just led to more losses. Swap Villanueva and Bush, see if he can regain himself in the pen.
