Haha that was quick. Zambrano is a nutcase. Barrett's error did cost them, but Zambrano still gave up 2 doubles after that.

Well Lou said that both players continued the fight in the clubhouse and Barrett suffered a cut lip. He sent them both home.

If they had real world jobs, one or both would be fired. Either way, I hope the team disciplines them hard because as grown men, that stuff should not be going on in the workplace. As it is though, I am sure they just get a slap on the wrist which is sad.

Good stuff. Not surprised that the Cubs are associated though. Is Lou being a worse influence than Dusty Baker?

With our luck, they probably will

..........but with their talent, they wont.

Pinella flipped and maybe kicked the umpire. He'll face a suspension. Dusty is probably getting a good laugh out of this. Pinella is a bad fit for that team, personality wise. That whole thing is ready to blow up.
Zambrano costing himself some cash in contract year. Not only is he pitching poor, but teams might not want to throw tons of cash at him due to his personality/behavior.

NO. I like the fact that Lou calls out his players and want to win. Dusty was laid back and let his players control the destiny of the team. Which went nowhere.

Being laid back with Dusty didn't work. Going on tirades with Lou didn't work. Maybe extremes don't work.

This Cubs team isn't the best team out there, but they have talent. They just haven't produced to their capability. Everyone has underachieved. The offense and Soriano especially haven't showed the power they have, the bullpen has been CRAP, and it is still very early in the season. They are at least a .500 ball club or above.

300 million for .500? How much does it take to make the playoffs?

From ESPN
People in Chicago would be amazed how many scouts following the NL Central report that they either think (a) the Cubs are a better, more talented team than the Brewers, or (b) the Cubs will end up winning the division. "I know they've played spotty, to say the least," one scout said of the Cubs. "But I think they have a chance to rip off about 14 [wins] out of 15 one of these days." The scout's theory is that the Cubs have played tight, in great part because they haven't adjusted to Lou Piniella's personality and he hasn't adjusted to them. "I think they're at a real turning point," the scout said. "If Lou can use that [suspension] time to watch from afar for a few days and then come back and make some adjustments, I think that team could take off. And knowing Lou, I think he can and he will."
