Capuano injured; Promote Gallardo?

If Capuano's groin injury puts him on the shelf, should we call Gallardo up? Or should Villanueva be plugged into the rotation? With that said I think Yovani should be called up and given a chance to start. He has nothing left to prove in AAA. Also, has anybody heard about Rickie Weeks and his injury? I know his 15-day DL stint was supposed to end soon.

Gallardo, if he is called up, will be coming out of the bullpen to start his major league stint. Villanueva will be put into the rotation because God knows he's earned it.

Yeah didn't Gross have an option left too? I could easily see them sending him down when they have to. Lord knows he isn't getting nearly enough at bats at the major league level (thank God) to get other teams interested in him for a trade. He could probably get a lot more at bats in AAA for a month and hopefully if he does well, we can unload him for some pitching. I doubt we get much but as of right now he isn't worth much to us anyway.

Melvin mentioned the other day about Gallardo starting in the pen. I have mixed feelings about that. Being a starter and a reliever isn't something every pitcher can do. I do see the wisdom of starting him in long relief, his first stints will be with no pressure and the Brewers losing early in a game.
But for now Villy has definitely earned the start. Even if Cappy is good for his next start it's time for Bush to go.
Weeks is expected back Sunday or Monday. Originally he was going to go on a minor league rehab stint but they changed their minds. He wants to be activated now, he says he's ready. Melvin will likely give him a few extra days.
I am bothered somewhat by Yost saying Weeks will go right back in the leadoff spot. Not only is he coming off an injury, he sucked as a leadoff hitter before.
When Weeks comes back Gross is likely to go down.

it looks like yost is leaning toward leaving villanueva in the pen and having gallardo make cappy's next start on monday.

Manager Ned Yost said he preferred to keep Villanueva in the bullpen, where he has excelled. Thus, plans were being made to summon Gallardo from Class AAA Nashville if necessary to make that Monday start against San Francisco.
