Vargus + out fielder for something?

Since Yo probably won't be sent down anytime soon, and when cappy comes back we will have too many starting pichers. Dealing Vargus would get us way more then Bush back in a trade and Bush is a fine #5 starter. Even though Gwynn was sent down we still have a crowded out feild.
What should we go after? What could we get for Vargus and Gwynn?
Jimmy Gobble is a lefty we could add to our pen. What can you guys come up with?

You have to remember that Gallardo is still 21. Whether or not he has been lucky in his starts, the stats say he has been a solid #4/#5 pitcher. I don't think you trade a veteran in favor of a 21-year old who is going to have his ups and downs. If we are serious about making a run, we won't be trading Vargas.
On the other hand, we do need to get rid of Mench, however his value is probably at its lowest as its been this entire year. With that said, we do need to get another lefty in the 'pen as soon as possible.

If we could get a solid reliever that comes at a decent price and is signed for a few more years I'd be ecstatic. I'd love to see Chad Cordero in a Brewers uniform. It would take a lot more than Vargas and Gwynn but if I were Melvin I'd be inquiring about him.

We need to worry about getting some bull-pen help before we look for more offense.

If Gallardo stays up and pitches well and Cappy gets back, I think we'll be fine in the bullpen.
Sheets
Supan
Capuano
Gallardo
Vargas
Villenueva
Bush
Wise
Turnbow
Cordero
For the most part, I think we can get by with 10 pitchers. We do have the three below who can work when its a blowout or obvious loss but on games that are winnable. I think we have a bullpen that is deep and strong enough to compete in the playoffs.
_______________
Capellan
Spurling
Shouse

Only 10 pitchers? Most teams have 12 but nobody goes with 10 pitchers, that's way too low.

true that. Why would we need that many bench players any how.

He's saying we'd have 13, but only 10 of them would be regulars. The other guys would be used for blow outs, emergencies, etc.

I'd hope Gwynn and Vargas could catch a hell of a lot more than Jimmy Gobble. Vargas is a relatively cheap guy who you know will be a solid back of the rotation guy. Lots of teams have huge question marks at the #4 and #5 spots. If Gallardo stays in the rotation, you move the former college closer in Bush to the pen to pitch in middle relief.
If we trade for a lefty reliever, we'll give up some minor league guys like Gwynn or some of our higher ceiling prospects in the low minors.

You can't trade draft picks in baseball.

if we do trade, how about a relief pitcher to replace Shouse or Spurling.

We have Thatcher in the minors to replace Shouse as a LOOGY and Spurling I'm guessing will be DFA'd when Capuano comes back.

But don't we want a veteran RP if we hopefully make it to the playoffs. I bet it would do wonders for his team.

Isn't Shouse a veteran? And no I don't think a veteran would make a huge difference. Talent wins bottom line, no matter how old the player is.
