Why is the PA system at Miller Park so quiet?

Post#1 » by Comet » Tue Jun 19, 2007 4:41 pm

On TV, you can never hear the batter announced. Even if you go to the ballpark, it's still hard to hear.

But sometimes, they turn the volume up when a jackass, traitor, or juicer is up at the plate (Bonds, Sheffield, C. Lee). When they do turn it up, it's fantastic! But why not always have it up?

What exactly makes you think Carlos Lee is a "jackass, traitor, or juicer"?

Carlos played hard here, never asked to be traded and signed a huge deal that we weren't willing to offer (or even come close to). Nothing wrong with any of that.

Well, I happened to talk with Doug Melvin about this, and this is what he said:

"On a day off last July, Mark A. and I decided to settle the situation one way or the other. MA was a bit uncomfortable with $12 million/year but agreed to make a 4 year offer at that rate to Lee's agent, Adam Katz. I called Katz and told him to talk to Carlos and get back to me in 4 or 5 hours. Katz called back only 30 minutes later and said it wasn't even close. And the rest is history."

Conspiracy theories anyone?

That just sounds like an agent trying to get the money for his client that he thinks he's worth.

It all depends on where you sit. I've sat in the Terrace Box above home plate anf the left field bleachers in 4 games this season and heard everything fine

Sort of the same here in AZ, I like to hear what music some of the players have when they come up to bat, but when I sit in the upper level, it's impossible to hear. You can only hear it well if you're in the nice box seats.

^^He's alright. I could do without his excitement. He's too giddy when we hit a homer or score a big run. And he is always saying "Lets score some runs boysss!!"..too bad our offense sucks :(

Brian Anderson is just the opposite. He thinks he's still working for the Golf Channel and has to be low key.

Yea, that was. But usually he basically screams, or squeals after a big homerun.
