Scouting Report

Giants: Zito's 0-2 with an 8.68 ERA in his past two starts, following a three-game winning streak in which he allowed one earned run over 20 innings. That's the kind of season it has been for Zito, who lost his first two outings, won the following two, then dropped three of four decisions. One thing hasn't changed: Zito's ability to make the most of whatever support he receives. He's 89-4 lifetime when his teams score at least four runs for him.

Brewers: Milwaukee improved to 10-2 in Vargas' starts after his last outing, an 11-3 rout of the Twins. Vargas has failed to pitch past the sixth inning in each of his starts, but through the weekend only Ben Sheets had a better ERA among Brewers starters than Vargas. He is 3-0 in six starts at Miller Park while holding opponents to a .266 average, 33 points lower than his road mark.

Giants Probable Lineup:
CF Dave Roberts
LF Nate Schierholtz
RF Randy Wynn
1B Ryan Klesko
2B Ray Durham
C Bengie Molina
3B Pedro Feliz
SS Omar Vizquel
P Barry Zito

Brewers Probable Lineup:
RF Corey Hart
SS JJ Hardy
3B Ryan Braun
1B Prince Fielder
CF Bill Hall
C Johnny Estrada
LF Kevin Mench
2B Rickie Weeks
P Claudio Vargas

Captain Erv's Thoughts:
First off, I am very upset as an afternoon game gets a rare telecast and I have to work. Anyway, we go for the sweep tomorrow against the the 126 million dollar man, Barry Zito who hasn't impressed much. We have taken the series which is great, but a sweep would be even better. Hopefully Vargas can keep his magic going.

I think they'll probably just give JJ the day off with the off day on Thursday. We'll probably just see Graffanino playing.

I did have Graffy penciled in at short, but I was watching the postgame show and they asked Yost if JJ could have played tonight and he said absolutely. So, I just have a feeling he might play tomorrow.

With the day off Thursday they just may give J.J. one more day off. Have him available as a pinch hitter.

Yost said Hardy will play tomorrow.

Remember the Brewers appear on the Young and the Restless tomorrow at 11 am on CBS.

I'll have to go to my Grandma's house to watch that and the game because the cable guys are going to be at my house.

After the Y&R I'm going to haul ass to Miller Park to hopefully watch a sweep.

jj will play, though it would be fine if he got another day off the way they're all hitting now. with derek lee suspended, braden looper and jim edmonds on the dl, it's high time for the brewers to sweep a series and create some distance. go crew!
