spurling's fine, just don't ever bring him in in the ninth or in a close game.

Yeah ERA is probably the worst thing to look at when the guy only has 24.1 innings of work. Look at the 1.5 WHIP and tell me you trust him for anything more than garbage time.

You also have to remember his ERA isn't affected by inherited runners scoring.

I wasn't confident him in any way last month but in his last 8 or so appearances he has looked good.

I say that we throw Parra into a trade now that he boosted his trade value with this game. Gwynn, Mench, and Parra for Buerhle? Move Bush AND Vargas into the bullpen. Throw Spurling back to AAA.

That is a pretty good stable of pitchers.
