CHICAGO -- The Brewers traded right-handed reliever Jose Capellan to Detroit on Sunday for a Minor League left-hander, potentially opening a bullpen spot for Yovani Gallardo.
Gallardo's move to relief would come as left-hander Chris Capuano comes off the disabled list to start in Pittsburgh on Tuesday. The team figures that by limiting the 21-year-old Gallardo's innings now, he will be fresher in August and September should he be needed in the rotation.
The Brewers received 23-year-old left-hander Chris Cody, who was selected by Detroit in the eighth round of the 2006 Draft and has spent most of 2007 with Class A West Michigan but recently was promoted to advanced Class A Lakeland. He was 5-6 with a 1.89 ERA in 15 starts and had 95 strikeouts and 16 walks and was a Midwest League All-Star.

awesome trade considering every team knew our situation and how we wanted to get rid of the guy anyway.

Wasn't he a highly rated prospect?
But good thing he's gone, was garbage this season.
