Milwaukee Brewers
47-34 . 1st in the NL central
@
PNC Park

Pittsburgh Pirates
35-46
Jeff Suppan

Suppan recorded his first "quality start" since May 27 in his last outing, but he took a no-decision after surrendering a game-tying solo homer in the sixth inning, just after the Brewers had rallied for a 3-2 lead against the Astros. Suppan has surrendered at least six hits in all 17 of his starts this season, and at least seven hits in five straight starts. He's 9-3 with a 3.92 ERA in 16 career starts against the Pirates, one of his former teams, but 3-5 with a 5.43 ERA this season on the road.
Vs
John Van Benschoten

Making his third start of the season, Van Benschoten struggled with his command against the Marlins. He lasted only four innings, allowing three hits, five walks and two runs, and in 81 pitches, he threw more balls than strikes. Even more confusing was that Van Benschoten got ahead of many hitters, but then lost them later in the count. Still, Van Benschoten has shown flashes of success since rejoining the Pirates' rotation, and catcher Ryan Doumit said after the game that "stuff-wise, he was there."
