Home Run Derby predictions

Post#1 » by THE2ndComing.AI » Mon Jul 9, 2007 9:28 pm

I know that goirish just made an all-star thread to discuss the derby and all star game, but i thought it would be a good idea to have a thread for predictions on the home run derby-just pick the 4 winners of the first round, 2 winners of the second round, and the champion---(in the derby, first and second round home run totals are accumulative)

Participants---P. Fielder (29 HRs), J. Morneau (24 HRs), A. Pujols (16 HRs), R. Howard (21 HRs), V. Guerrero (14 HRs), A. Rios (17 HRs), M. Holliday (15 HRs), M. Ordonez (13 HRs)

Prediction- 1st round winners- Fielder-14 HR's, Howard-13 HR's, Guerrero-9 HR's, Morneau-8 HR's
2nd round winner- Fielder-21 HR's (Total), Howard-24 HR's (Total)
Champion- Fielder- 11 HR's in final round

I think it will be a battle of the lefties @ AT&T park

Toss-up between Prince, Howard and Vlad for me. I'll take Vlad, though.

Prince, Howard, Pujols or Vlad will be in the finals. I'm going to go homer though and go with Prince.

Chris Berman is a perfect announcer for this event.

Prince with 3 with 5 outs - he's got a disadvantage with the shadows ... that sucks...

Berman is the perfect announcer for meaningless exhibitions. When he has anything to do with games that count, in any sport, I cringe.

Fielder is a bust. 8)

Fielder was kind of screwed. The shadow came through right about where the pitcher released the ball so I am sure it was hard to pick up the ball clearly out of the pitchers hand. On top of that, whoever was throwing to him sucked. He couldn't get the ball on the inner half where prince wanted it with any consistancy whatsoever. Next year if he gets back in it, he better bring his own guy.

Dude that **** pitcher was to blame to. God how many pitches did Prince have to take before that guy actually threw a decent pitch?

I'm not making excuses that guy literally pitched like ****. Either way I'm kind of glad he was out in the 1st round. Don't want him **** up his swing in the 2nd half and the faster he gets out of the derby the less chance there is of that happening.

Ryan Howard did pretty fine last year. Quit with the excuses, cause once Fielder comes slow out of the gate, you're gonna blame it on the Derby, huh?

Hey I'd rather have Fielder have a **** second half and a great first half than all the Diamondbacks hitting prospects just being ****. :D
