I wonder if those d-list guys will finally admit that he's injury prone. I love the guy but he just can't stay healthy. If it's not one thing it's another. :nonono:

God, it's always like this. It looks like a little injury but then it escalates into 4-6 weeks or something like that.

Hey guys condolences on your lose.

Too bad it would've been a fun race to the end. Hopefully the young guys Mickey Davis and livestrong are talking about come through and we eventually have a good race.

I swear this guy is related to Kerry Wood.

Sheets went down early in Saturdays game. We won that game and the 3 since then. Losing him hurts but I think we'll be fine.

Go to hell. I'd rather have our pitching staff minus Sheets than the sh*t you're trotting out there for the next 5 years. The Brewers will be fine---they're replacing Sheets with arguably the best rookie pitcher in baseball and have recently called up a guy who threw a perfect game at AAA earlier this year. Sheets will be back in a month.

You're 4 1/2 back. Get used to that picture b/c the Cubbies are going to be chasing the Brewers for many years to come in the NL Central.

Geez, I didn't think his post was bad at all.

The silver lining in this injury is that Sheets has one year left on his contract. He will be trying to nail down an extension during the offseason. Had he gone injury free and won 20 games his price would be much higher than it's going to be now.

Its going to take more than Sheets missing a few starts for the Cubs to overtake the Brewers.

You should tune in when Gallardo -- you know, possibly the top pitching prospect in baseball -- pitches to see how much we'll miss Sheets. Gallardo is our second best starter, but was in the pen because he is so young and they didn't want to overwork him. Him, Villy, and possibly Parra getting some starts is far from the end of the world for us.

Sorry MD....the guy keeps referring to the Crew as the Sewers over on the cubs board and I took his "the race is over" attitude as anything but apologetic. So, I didn't have much tolerance for his condescending post...

I'd like to apologize for my post but I honestly didnt' think it was bad.

Let me elaborate. I would have loved to see both teams in top healthy condition. The race to the end would've been that much more fun. Now with any sort of injuries to either team, the fans of the perspective team will claim we weren't 100%.

For example Cub fans have been known to do this in the past 10 years because the culture of the "lovable losers" is beginning to change. Cub fans now have a higher expectation and grimace when they even hear lovable losers.

If you'd like to compare what I wrote with what this brewer fan wrote a couple days ago on the Cubs board the comparison is laughable.

Its enemy territory. I'd be foolish to respond to it in an aggressive manner. Now GYBE(one of the Cub mods) has basically stated the same thing over on the Cubs board about visiting posters.

Same thing goes for calling your Crew the Sewers. When your on the Cubs board don't be surprised if your team is put down, once again its enemy territory.

Now when I visit other boards, Brewers included, I take extra time to think about my verbage.

Anyways, enough of the board politics...

I'm anxiously awaiting Gallardo's next start. As a baseball fan I hope he does well because this division race is going to be spectacular if Sheets' injury is barely a hickup for ya guys.

...ha, yea you don't want that. If Gallardo can be similar to Prior in his rookie season then I think we might have one hell of a race.

It happens every year that a young pitcher comes out of nowhere to take a team over the top and usually pretty far in the playoffs, if not the World Series.

JVerlander, Jenks, FRod, etc. Very very common.

For the Scrubs' sake I hope not.

I like the Prior comparison just because Prior had pinpoint control with his fastball even though he usually only worked in the 90-94 MPH range, with the occasional 95-96. He also understood how to change speeds with his fastball to keep hitters a little off balance.

Prior, of course, also had a sharp breaking ball that he could throw anywhere from 76 to 84, and with good control. Gallardo is much the same way in how he throws his breaking ball at a variety of speeds.

Gallardo also has a nice change which he really hasn't used all that much. Prior didn't have that.

Anyway, I loved watching Prior pitch when he was young and healthy. He had great stuff and just knew how to pitch. Gallardo is like a healthy, Mexican clone of him on the hill.

I'm pretty sure Prior had a changeup, but his 4seam, 2seam, slider, and curve were enough to get the job done.

There were plenty of time he threw 84 mph fastballs with no movement, which to me is a change up since, like y ou said, he had 90-94mph fastball.

He did frequently change fastball speeds. His 2seam was around 91-92 and on a good day he could get 96 consistently on his 4seam but 10-12 mph difference is enough to constitute as a change up in my book.

I with you 100% on this.....for whatever reason the guy just can't string it together....It seemed like this year he was going to have the 20-win dominant season......and now this.

He needs to see Roger Clemens trainer and not the guy he is seeing.
