Going into the 9th inning tonight, the Brewers have recorded exactly 5 hits. While they have scored 4 runs tonight, this is seemingly a string of very, very bad offensive showings for the Brewers. Take out the 10 run explosion and the last 7 games, they have scored 2 runs (10 innings), 4 runs, 4 runs, 3 runs, 2 runs, and now 4 runs. Now the Brewers have managed to win 4 of these games due to solid pitching, but you can't rely on on pitching every game (such as this one).

The reason I am pointing this out is because behind the wins this week has been some truly bad offense. The hit totals have been abysmal the last week. 4 runs can be enough to win you games, but most of these runs have been coming off the home run ball. The Brewers are falling into the trap again that they fell in in May, the only difference being the pitching has been better. The Brewers CAN'T keep relying on that one swing of the bat to get them back into games. No home run tonight, 4 run deficit.

Even with this bad pitching performance across the board tonight (Suppan back to his crappy form), the offense should be a cause for concern right now.

Agree completely, and this is a huge worry right now. The plate discipline has been terrible lately, and it appears all the players are pressing.

Offensive production goes up and down all year especially for young teams like ours. . Just before the break we were tearing it up. I don't really think its much concern.

It is definitely a concern when you are in danger of loosing the division lead you have hung onto for the whole season.

Look at the calender. Some point this year the cubs will catch us. It doesn't mean the season is over.

So what you are saying is that you don't care if we lose the division lead to our most hated rivals after leading them by 8.5 games?

Not in August I don't. And not when i know Cubs are a great team who wasn't playing good early in the year.

I agree with that we are pressing. Our lack of experience is starting to show.

Is it really that?If so,how do you explain young guys like Fontenot/Theriot/Pagan/Hill/Marshall playing so well for the Cubs?

I just don't buy it the lack of experience,some of the guys struggling are our vets,not just young guys.One thing to keep in mind is overall it's not like the Brewers have been in some nosedive,we aren't exactly playing horrible since the All--Star break.If the Cubs hadn't gone on some insane run,we still would have a 5-6-7 game lead.

Getting Hall back will help alot and hopefully Jenkins heats up like he usually does in the second half of seasons.With him struggling,Hardy unable being figured out that you never need to throw him fastballs,and Weeks head in a fog,the offense is suffering.A healthy Hall and a hot Jenkins would be huge going forward.

Not sure what players on other teams has to do with ours. I never said just the young players either. Even our veterans don't have much playoff experience. We aren't playing horrible, but we have gotten a little lucky by winning a lot of close games. Our offense (besides today) has not been that great lately.

The one word that describes the brewers offense is Inconsistent.

Yep

The Brewers are 5th in the NL in runs scored,not bad at all considering that prior to the season the bigger concern on the team was could they score enough runs to win.

Hall will be back any day now and i can't believe that Weeks won't hit better than he has.I'm more worried about the pitching going forward than i am the offense.

The season is long, and we are young, so we'll have our ups and downs.

Troubling however is stats such as we are 2nd worst in the NL with 2 outs and runners in scoring position.
