Gwynn will most likely be sent down. He'll be gone Saturday and Sunday anyway to attend his dad's HOF induction. And we need extra pitchers for the upcoming doubleheader. On Monday Balfour is likely sent packing.

Win loss record means nothing. Lohse has a better ERA than Suppan.

Why are Hardy and Hart still resting??? They are 2 of our best players, you can't keep resting them.

Long season and both had been awful lately.

Still a curious move. But if it pays off versus the Cardinals, worth it...

WTF?

A) Why is Mench even in the lineup AT ALL against a RHP

B) Why do you hit him 3rd? That's absurd

Anyway, I think it is curious that Hardy is out of the lineup again.
If I was a conspiracy theorist, I would guess that both Hardy and Estrada are being disciplined (quietly) for their lack of hustle the other day. Hardy should have been busting it around first and should have been able to slide into second base when the Reds infielder dropped that routine fly ball.

So if that is why Hardy is out of the lineup, fine.
But why is Hart out of the lineup? And why is Braun out of the lineup? I understand that Braun could use a day off here and there, but you do NOT give him a day off when you already have Hart, Hardy, and Estrada out of the lineup.

We're too obsessed with giving players a day off. There are a number of big time MLB players that play basically every game of the season unless they are injured. Braun is a young healthy guy. He doesn't NEED a day off here. Perhaps it is beneficial to give him a day off at some point. But not today.

Wow.
Is this just a white flag type lineup?
Absolutely terrible.

I got a way to defend it. Bring a bat to the game and kill one of them."

Braun apparently has a "slight oblique strain" but he says he's fine.

They havent played awful.. yeah their bats might have cooled off but its not like they havent been playing pretty good defense.

Its just really upsetting.. it seems like so many ppl gage all type of sports on how good you are on offense.. guess what.. you have to know how to play defense too.

With a doubleheader coming up I guess Nedley figured he would rest his guys against a weaker Reds team and have them ready for the Cards. But Hart, Hardy and Braun at the same time?

its not a horrible lineup.. it could be better.. but it could be much worse.. we could have 9 counsells batting.. or 9 weeks.. ewww
