No source, just a friend in KC who e-mailed me that KC was working on trading Dotel to the Braves and that the Texiera deal was pending. I asked him if he had Brewers rumors and he mentioned he "heard" that. I can't see it happening (Brewers trade).

The Brewers were the third team in the Boston Chicago deal but Boston backed out because they would've had to give up Okajima and they didn't want to. Can't say I blame them.

Twins traded Castillo to the Mets for two minor leaguers and the Reds traded Kyle Lohse to the Phillies for a minor leaguer.

im sure there will be more juice in the next 23 1/2 hours

Sounds like the Braves are close to getting Dotel, as well.

The NL teams are all making their moves.

And do what? If somebody he wants isn't available then should he just trade some players for another player just to appease the fans?

i agree but what I am saying is ATL is better cubs climbin...if he can even find some1 to replace turnbow or LF i would love it

I will say this, I think that the brain trust is feeling a tremendous amount of pressure to improve the team since it's been so long since the organization has been in a pennant chase. I truly believe they're exhausting all efforts right now trying to acquire 'something' to put them over the top and catapult them down the stretch. As long as they don't mortgage our future for rentals I'm a happy camper.

I guess you haven't heard about the Scott Linebrink trade.

Honestly who cares if we trade prospects for a rent a player? If the player is good enough we'll get picks back, if we end up re-signing the player then we still have a good player to help the team.

It's my Milwaukee, small market, and 25 years of losing mentality that hinders my 'All in card'. I'm all for acquiring help, just not going overboard or hindering our future flexibility (my offseason stance on Suppan is in the process of being proven correct). Curse Jeff & his no trade clause.

JS yesterday: "General manager Doug Melvin said all is quiet on the trade front involving the Brewers and that he expects no further action before the non-waiver deadline Tuesday."

while i'd love to get some guys (dotel, dunn) they're really probably out of our range, and while other guys are within it, they're probably not worth trading anything for. our team is relatively good as it is, and if each player was doing his job we wouldn't need anybody. some consistency is what i want at the deadline.

my trade: craig counsell for jeff cirillo, straight up, and we pay the difference in counsell's salary. oh, and cirillo instantly takes over ned yost's job.

The Gagne headline is intriguing. Say what you want about Turnbow (I like and have not lost faith in the guy), but our bullpen would be sickening with a Cordero, Gagne, Turnbow, Wise, Linebrink, & CV. I imagine Wise or Turnbow would be on the exit if Gagne was coming in; however, having 17 closers on the roster isn't necessarily a bad thing. We could use each one for an inning in Suppan's routine 5 inning performances.

I got one for you all. Its not a rumor though. Tony Gwynn Jr. flew to Nashville today for tonights game with the Sounds. I was on the plane with him and chatted him up a little. He is a pretty nice guy. It was mostly small talk. Was proud of his dad. Can't wait to get back up the majors and will work hard to do so. He is obviously one of those guys addicted to his crackberry. He had a ton of baggage. Two bags of bats and 3 full size suitcases as well as two carryons. It must be tough getting called up and sent down with all that crap you have to bring all the time. We flew coach on Midwest Express. Umm, he is about 5'10" and maybe 175 looking in person. I was shocked how many people didn't know who he was. Even down here in Nashville, people have no idea about baseball. It is definitely not a baseball town since no one at the Opryland where I am staying knows who he is or who his dad is. Strange. I guess they have a game tonight and tomorrow night but I can't make either one since I have work related things to do. I would go if they had a game Wednesday but alas they head out on the road after tomorrow nights game. Well thats about all I got. I wanted to grill him about the **** play lately but I am not that kind of guy. Nonetheless, it was pretty cool to meet a big leaguer out of the blue.

I wonder what it would take to get Byrnes from Arizona? He's an impending FA and with Linebrink and Corderro coming up I don't know if we want another one. But I wonder if they'd send him our way for a package involving Gwynn and Turnbow?

Unless you can trade managers, the Brewers are screwed.
