Records at Glance: Brewers: 58-50, T-1st NL Central; Mets: 60-47, 1st NL East

TV: FSN Wisconsin
Radio: 620 WTMJ

Brian Lawrence, RHP (0-0, -.--)

Chris Capuano, LHP (5-7, 4.70)

Scouting Report

Mets: Jorge Sosa was originally slated to start this one, but he was used in relief against the Brewers on Tuesday night. Lawrence, who the Mets signed to a Minor League contract on May 9, gets the nod instead. The 31-year-old was 8-2 with a 3.87 ERA in 12 starts (79 innings) for Triple-A New Orleans and is seemingly recovered from the shoulder surgery he underwent in March 2006.

Brewers: The Brewers have lost each of Capuano's last 12 starts but he has been pitching better of late. Two walks loomed large in a three-run Cardinals first inning in Capuano's most recent start, when he was charged with four runs in 6 1/3 innings. But he has a 2.95 ERA over his last three starts (seven earned runs in 21 1/3 innings). Capuano has yet to beat the Phillies in four career games against them.

I really think you need to look at how bad the pitcher is and who you're a fan of before you make this statement.

It was insinuative that even if Cappy gives up 4-5 runs we should be able to put some numbers on the board too. In no way did I say Cappy was a great pitcher or that Lawrence was a terrible pitcher.

Thanks for twisting my words and being an ass.

I'm not twisting your words. I'm saying Lawrence sucks therefore the Brewers will make him look like Cy Young.

Luckily for you guys Capuano doesn't completely suck so this means Mets win.

OT (within the thread)

Listened to a Nick Punto interview this morning: He said guys were "panicked" last night as they turned on TV's in the clubhouse about 45 minutes before the game started yesterday. "Guys were going into the clubhouse between innings to check the bridge collapse information and to check cell phone messages.

Crazy.

i have a bit of hopes for lawrence.

in 04 he was 15-14 with a 4.12 era.

even in 05 although he was 7-15 his era was still below 5.

i don't think he's going to be a walk over. will be a intresting game of course.

well good news for us that he doesn't completely suck, that way we have a better chance of getting more than 2 hits

I love days like this when the Scrubs and Brewers both play games. I can listen to Ueck and sneak away to the break room to see the score of Chicago's game.
