i need some answers

i just have a question for us brewers fans.
now reallistically speaking, can brewers fans really talk s--- about the cubs(note. i am not talking about cubs fans). i mean... yeah, the cubs haven't won a championship in 100 years, but who are we to talk; we haven't won anything yet. and also i have asked this question to a couple family members but all they did was critisize my question, and then said that i am not a brewers fan(which is incorrect).
now don't get me wrong, i am a real brewers fan and i think the rivalry is good for baseball, but if you look at history and present, what have we done in the last 20 years, and then ask yourself what have the cubs done in the last 20 years. answer: the cubs have made the playoffs a couple of times, the brewers haven't done anything. i just think that we should do something first, and then talk crap about the cubs, because what can cubs fans say if we win the division and the cubs don't make the playoffs. answer: nothing.
i realize that the brewers are on the rise, but what kills me is that if you say one thing wrong with the brewers, brewers fans say "go back to the cubs." and then i say "the cubs are not far behind us anymore, so who are we to talk about them when the brewers are giving their season away and the cubs are one of the hottest teams in baseball right now." so maybe we should just keep our eyes on the brewers and quit talking about the cubs and just win some damn games.
now if there are any questions about my question let me know and i will straighten my point out for you.
i appriciate any answers from you guys. and don't let me have it too hard.
help me out guys.

It's August and it's a pennant race, I'd worry about fans NOT talking trash about the other team.

who cares if any team won a championship or not. its ludacris to think that would make one teams fans better than an others or give them a right to rub it in their face. its not like celtic fans had a right the past cupple of years (before they got kg) to consider them superior to anyother teams because they won a ton of championships in the past. what it all comes down to is what teams have done this season and for the most part the brewers were the better team until recently when they've pretty much evened out. and besides, the cubs have been around a lot longer than the brewers and milwaukee did have a team before the brew crew that did win a championship so we should at least be able to count the '57 braves.

It's pretty much why I don't talk much trash about the Cubs, because what have the Brewers done to back up the trash talk? Just because the Cubs have found interesting ways to lose and the Brewers have just lost doesn't give either side any sort of ground to mock the other.
That's my theory anyways.

In my mind it really doesn't matter what happened in past years. That is irrelevant to any games played now. Considering they are the Crew's main rival and considering all the crap that comes our way from them...I'd say we are more than entitled to tell everyone we know how much they suck and how bad the franchise is.

Go back to the Cubs, you fair-weather fan!
But seriously, of course we should talk trash about the Cubbies. They are our #1 rivals. Bears fans talked trash about the Pack even when we were hoisting the Lombardi Trophy...and we talked trash about them even when we were finishing 4-12 and they were doing big things in the regular season. It doesn't make a difference to me whether it is rational or not...it's all a part of the spirit of competition. And if you can't handle that, maybe you shouldn't be following sports.

Don't worry. Be prepared to be Yosted. He will be the reason we lose to the Cubs. Losing record away from home all those years he has been here. Cubs fans know that.

you're missing the point to my question.
the point of my question was, REALISTICALLY speaking, what do we have to back up our trash talk about the cubs. if you don't understand that, then maybe you shouldn't be posting in this topic.

It's trashing talking by fans, not two high school debate teams. Who cares what "backs" up the trash talk. It's TRASH TALK.

MD. follow me on the question here. as i said earlier, i am glad there is a rivalry between the cubs and brewers, but aside from the trash talk (now note that i am not saying that we shouldn't trash talk) can we really say that we are that much better then the cubs. thats all i am asking.

And what we're saying is that it doesn't make a difference whether the trash talking is rational or not...it's a part of the spirit of competition. Why does it make a difference whether we
should say whether we are better than the Cubs? Who are you afraid of? Who are you afraid of offending? Is this a debate? NO!!! It's trash talking! And whether it makes sense or not, in competition, it happens. Even if we were 1-11 against the Cubs, we'd still talk trash about the one time we beat them. It doesn't matter if it is rational!
Seriously...do you play sports...or are you involved in any sort of competitive activity? I'm asking you this question because trash talking is very much a part of sports. If you don't participate, how can you understand it? Do you expect us to lay down and not talk trash?

I've never seen trash talking so overanalyzed. This isn't a chess tournament we're talking about here it's baseball.

ok, point well taken. i believe i have the answers i was looking for.
i have been just dissapointed and angry at the brewers for giving the season away and at bonds for breaking the record that is now tainted, and i took it out on this question. i know you guys are right, but all i wanted to do was get us more focused on just the brewers rather then the cubs and brewers rivalry, but i failed. hell i have done my share of trash talk about the brewers and cubs rivalry. and yes i am afraid. i am afraid of the cubs winning the division, because i have said since the end of april that the brewers were going to take the division and the cubs were not going to catch up with us. but it seems that i am turning out to be wrong, and that is part of the reason i asked this question. i think that my anger is clouding my better judgement, and i get really passionate when it comes to sports.
and for the record, i do play sports: baseball, basketball, football. and if you want you can even count bowling. and i have done my share of trash talk. and no. i don't expect you guys to not trash talk, nor should you.
