Get Willy Mo Pena

He wants to play, and we could use his bat against lefties (he's hitting .292 against them). He has cleared waivers. I bet Boston would take Zach Jackson or some other minor leaguer(s) for him. Him and Jenks should be the platoon in left, Hall in center, Hart in right, and Mench or Gwynn as the 4th OF. Not saying he would be a savior or anything, I just think he could be had for fairly cheap, and would be an upgrade against lefties. Anyone else on board?

To expand on my first post.

No actually Mench is our main guy against lefties and he's batting .310 against them. Of course it would be rather foolish to just use batting average as a reason we should go after a player. On base percentage and slugging percentage are more important, at least to me.

He has cleared waivers. I bet Boston would take Zach Jackson or some other minor leaguer(s) for him.

I bet Boston would take a carton filled with rotting eggs for him at this point. He's not a good baseball player.

Him and Jenks should be the platoon in left,

So you'd rather have Pena (.292/.370/.477/.847/7 BB/21 K) over Mench (.310/.346/.524/.867/7 BB/7 K)

Hall in center, Hart in right,

Agreed with this though Hall is wearing thin on me and getting on my nerves.

and Mench or Gwynn as the 4th OF.

Why no Gross? Aww forget it.

Not saying he would be a savior or anything, I just think he could be had for fairly cheap, and would be an upgrade against lefties.

He wouldn't be an upgrade this year and over his career he wouldn't be an upgrade over Mench either.

The only problem with Mench is not even his fault. It's Yost who decides to play him against right handed pitchers when he should know that he's not good against them.

Getting him would be like putting a bandaid on a gunshot wound.Unless he can learn how to pitch well in a blink, there is no point in aquiring Pena. He's Kevin Mench with different skin color and adding another Mench isn't the cure for our woes.

I'm not really concerned that the Brewers strikeout to much.

We are 6th in the NL in strikeouts. The five teams with more K's are

Florida
San Diego
Philly
Cincinnati
Atlanta

Of those teams and us,only the Padres have a bad offense. In fact, five of the six highest strikeout teams are in the top six of runs scored.Only Colorado is in the top 6 in runs scored and not top 6 in strikeouts.

Our problem on offense isn't striking out,it's we are 13th in drawing walks which is killing the OBP.
