Brewers and Cards coin flip?

Post#1 » by Buck You » Thu Sep 6, 2007 9:30 pm

The poll on brewers.com has a question asking what Gord Ash should call, heads or tails, tomorrow at 1:30 to determine homefield advantage for a potential playoff game between the Brewers and CARDS? Huh? I would think if there was going to be any coin flip it would be between the two first place teams and why would they do this coin flip now? I'm sorry if I'm an idiot and this is pretty obvious but I'm pretty confused.

It says potential. They'll only be a game out so it's definitely a possibility that they could tie. They'll do one with the Cubs too so it doesn't really matter.

Why don't they just do it when the oppourtunity presents itself?

Will they do one with the Cubs, though? Didn't they win the season series? Or does that not factor in on the division winner...?

Yeah we do it with the Cubs tomorrow too but we don't get to call heads or tails against them. I believe we're calling against St. Louis, the Cubs are calling against us and the Cardinals are calling against the Cubs.

Knowing our division no one will win the coin toss.

Head to head record doesn't mean anything in baseball, they'd rather do coin flips

 Right. The coin would just land on its side and they would say screw it.

They'd just give it to the Reds

Anyone know how they decide in case of a 3 way tie? I assume 2 teams play and then the winner plays the third team...but how is the lucky team that only has to play one game decided?

Okay so they did the coin flip and here's how it goes.

Division:

If the Brewers tie the Cubs the game is in Chicago.
If the Cardinals and Cubs tie the game is in St. Louis.
If the Brewers and Cardinals tie the game is in Milwaukee.

Wildcard:

If we tie the Padres the game is in Milwaukee.
If we tie the Dodgers the game is in Milwaukee.
If we tie the Phillies the game is in Milwaukee.
If we tie the Rockies the game is in Colorado.
If we tie the Cubs the game is in Chicago.

Arizona made out the best as they host everyboy in the event of a tie.

So it will be 30% road fans rather than 45%

Fantastic
