Yost voices an intent to adjust his coaching mindset

Yes, I realize that this article makes one curious as to why Yost wasn't going "full out" prior to the final 23 games of this season (could it be that nobody told Yost that games played in July are counted equally on a team's record as games played in September?), but that minor detail -or glaring question, depending on your point of view- aside, I am SINCERELY HAPPY that Yost finally realizes that something has been askew with regard to the compatibility of his normal managerial style and the Brewers' main goal of being a winning, playoff bound team (as opposed to the Brewers former #1 priority over the last few seasons, which was to develop talent).
I'll tell you one thing, if Yost continues to say the right things from here on out I just may be willing to put aside my animosity towards him for the remainder of the season and simply cheer my favorite team as it makes a run at the Central Division crown (even if having Yost "say the right things" continues to involve putting words in his mouth a little bit ).

I will use the next 23 games to judge him, since I have never liked his coaching ability anyways.

Playoff race in baseball doesn't start until September. Just like the basketball playoff race doesn't start until April.

In baseball it's obviously different, though. If you go Shouse/Cordero every game or even half the games, or whoever your best are all the time, it's a recipe for disaster in August/September. The major league leaders in games appeared in will be around 80 games, and their innings pitched will be significantly lower than 80, generally.

You have to use your Seth McClungs or Spurlings or whoever your scrubs are in July a decent amount. You have to use who you got. Not equally, but you have to spread it around. Of course that makes you wonder why Wise was so infrequently used, still by far a better pitcher than some of the scrubs Yost turned to.

And when you were in a slide like the Brewers, and a pennant race, Yost definitely waited too long to adopt this mentality.
