Torii Hunter 12 mil per
Carlos Silva 5 mil per
Rodell White 2.5 mil per
Lew Ford 1 mil per Savings 20 million dollars?
Where are the Twins going to spend this money if at all? With Francisco Cordero signing a ridiculous 4 yr 46 million dollar contract, there is no way the twins will keep Nathan past this year. The Twins traded Luis Castillo a 300 guy with gg defense, it takes three platers to compensate for what Castillo brought, so instead of having peace of mind with a All Star caliber 2nd baseman at a well deserved 6 mil per contract the twins go another direction. WHo wants coco crisp. If the Twins traded sanatana they'd better get Ellsbury.

I think it would be crappy of the twins not to re-invest in the team with all of their savings this year

i agree that we have a little money...but we also have some extensions that should be made. Morneau should be signed to an extension soon...he is our only power threat right now and he is beginning to play very good defense. He is going to take up a bit of our savings.

Cuddyer will probably be extended provided he isnt asking for much. Some our opposed to cuddy, but i think he is a valuable piece to our team. If we are not rebuilding then we need him. He is a great clubhouse guy, has one of the better arms in RF, and proved clutch two years ago.

I think Nathan has to be traded...i want him on the team, but as a GM i cant justify 15m if that is what he will ask for. I am not sure i can justify 10m. We have some quality relievers. If we cant settle on a closer, than a committee of Rincon, neshek, reyes, and Crain is not bad at all.

Regardless of nathan here or not, i would like to see us spend some money on a another reliever. Someone like mahay. With our young pitching staff, 5 inning 90 pitch outings will happen. Having a great bullpen will help with those games(especially if we are scoirng 4 runs a game.)

For any chance at competeing in the next 3 or 4 years. We need to trade Santana and Nathan. I say this assuming that the pohlads will continue with their normal budget. Nearly 50% of our budget would be tied up into two guys. We cant support that. But i also dont like the deal that the wiretap "claims" we want: hughes, cabrera and jackson...unless someone has a different scouting report, i am not convinced that cabrera will be a great player.

Needs(In order):

CF, 3B, 2B, DH, RP, Pinch Hitter

I think OF is set with the Young trade, which means Cabrera is not needed. Cuddy, Young, and a tandem of Kubel/Tyner/ and newly acquired Craig Monroe should be able to handle the 3rd OF and DH spots.

3B, Middle Inf (2b or SS), major league ready SP, and minor league prospect P should be the asking price for Santana and will shore up holes.

I would hold Nathan until July to see if Twins are still in contention and see who is desperate.

Young is a corner outfielder. Cuddy is a corner outfielder. Kubel and White are NOT centerfielders. Tyner better not start in CF or I will not be happy. We need a cf.

I read somewhere they don't want Young playing CF. He will play left, Cuddyer will stay in right and Kubel will DH.

Which means, hopefully, that Kemp or Ellsbury is coming. Let's just hope its one of those two and not Crisp or Cabrera. I'm not high on Gomez.

Using a different example, its like saying Cuddyer can play third. You won't see him play there though because its not his natural position and he wouldn't be as productive.

One thing though, not many people will try to run on our corner ofs. Weve got two cannon arms now.

Kubel DH's because of his knees.

Ellsbury would be a dream along with Lester. But if its Lowrie, Youkilis, Lester, Crisp I'd be okay.

Cabrera is okay as long as he comes with Hughes, Tabata.

I'd love to see Reyes and Gomez coming to MN. That would be the best case scenario if Santana is traded.

As soon as the Twins decided they couldn't sign Johan to an extension they went into rebuilding mode. They probably won't fill out their payroll and go for it all this year. They're now going to try to be competitive for 2010, the year the new ballpark opens. This isn't such a bad thing, I don't think.
