Cliff Lee to Twins?

Post#1 » by [RCG] » Tue Jul 6, 2010 3:17 am

From Heyman at Sports Illustrated:

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/b ... ?eref=sihp

I'm not sure what Seattle would want back from us in a trade for Cliff Lee, I really don't care if Ramos goes as we have Mauer then maybe either an outfielder or pitching prospect? The way he's been pitching I wouldn't mind throwing a package like Ramos/Blackburn for a 1/2 season of Lee. That being said I would hope we're aggressive in pursuing Oswalt as well, again probably for at least two prospects as he has a multi-year deal. The Twins need better starting pitching if we're to hold the division lead and have a chance in advancing in October....

The 1/2 seas rental is the concern. You know the Yanks, Sox, Angels, Mets, might throw huge huge money at him in the off season.

I would trade:

Wilson Ramos/Ben Revere for Cliff Lee

Chris Parmalee/Carlos Guitierrez/Nick Blackburn for Roy Oswalt

Lee/Oswalt/Baker/Liriano/Pavano

Move Slowey into a long-reliever role then he can replace Lee if he leaves after the season.

I don't really care if he walks at the end of the season. We need help now.

I hope to god they can get something worked out. If not we finish the season in second or third place.

I think we should still win the division, we're just not playing that great right now. The key thing is having the pitching to get past a team like the Yankees. We have near no chance if we don't grab a guy like Lee.

That was a lowball starter offer. I expect if the Twins really want Lee they'll up the ante another player.

^ I don't know about that. Ramos showed he was for real with his brief stint, remember Lee is no guarantee past this year otherwise he would be worth a LOT more but Seattle would have to be pleased with a Ramos/Hicks package.

That's not a lowball offer. That's arguably the Twins top 2 prospects.

Wiretap says Seattle wants 3 prospects for Lee. I think Seattle is getting greedy. They are most likely going to lose him in the offseason anyways and they won't take two of our top prospects in exchange? There's no denying he's a very very good pitcher but to ask us to clean house of our prospects when we might not even be able to re-sign him is ridiculous.

Looks like he's going to Texas pending league approval because of the whole bankruptcy thing.

Edit: We really need pitching.......too many of our guys getting lit up early in games doesn't bode well for the team.

Twins shouldve added to their offer another player, like daddy5 suggested. That TX offer was beat-able.

Any chance we go after Dan Haren or Roy Oswalt? 2 good pitchers who are rumored to be on the trading block.
