I read it, but I'm not sure what you mean.

I meant the magic number was 10, but no one comes here so I'm posting to myself. The magic number is now 6. I'm just trying to get some activity on the board since the Twins are doing so well.

Hmm, okay. I'm still not sure what that means. But I do agree, we need some damn activity on this board! I wish the MLB side was as active as the NBA side.

Do you not know what a magic number is? I'm surprised if you don't, but otherwise I'm not sure why you're confused. Magic number- number of Twins wins and White Sox losses needed for the Twins to clinch the division. The magic number is now 5.

I've heard the term a lot recently but I didn't know what it meant.

Meh, we'd have to have an epic meltdown at this point to lose the division anyway.

It's no time to coast into the playoffs though. I'd rather not be paired with the Yankees in the first round again. I think we have a great shot at beating them but I'd rather play them after our "new" team gets a series playoff victory under their belts. Go for it all!!!!

Who we play in the first round is going to up to the Yankees and the Rays most likely. The Yankees win the division we'll play the Rays, if the Rays win the division we'll play the Yankees. Unless the Rangers catch us, we're going to have homefield in the first round.

Yes, you have readers (at least since I joined here).
I'm very optimistic home field will mean more vs the Yanks (if paired). They owned the dome for years, but maybe the new park is a game changer. Hopefully the Twins can make up the game behind while the Yanks/Rays play each other.

Magic number is two, we can clinch today. Home field will be important if we make to the ALCS. We've passed the Rays and are 1 game behind the Yankees.

Now tied with the Yankees for best record.

Now it's going to be a balancing game for Gardy. You want home field advantage, but you don't want to play your starters into the ground either going into the playoffs. You also don't want to give them too much rest as to mess with their momentum/comfort or whatever you want to call it for the playoffs. I'm really excited for the post season though, we've got the talent to compete with any other team, I think we have momentum on our side and playoff experience maybe not on our side. Should be interesting to see what happens.

Not much of a push for home field advantage. We've given up 10 runs in 4 of 5 games.

Yup, our play right now is a good example of exactly what not to do heading into the playoffs.
