even though we can't ever get Pohlads wallet open for established major leaguers, we could always stay competitive with A+ scouting in the minors.

We might have lost that too now. I wonder if he got sick of dealing with Pohlad's shenanigans.

He's going to be senior adviser and focus solely on scouting. I think our scouting will still be top notch.

I think he didn't want to have to deal with the impending Hunter, Santana, Nathan and Morneau contract issues so he passed them onto Smith.

He was a good GM but he never took risks to trade prospects for a late-season/post-season push.
